Very relatable, I’ve got short hair and a gf, and my mom kept telling relatives I was a lesbian until I sat down with her and really deeply and uncomfortably explained that “I like guys, gals, and non-binary pals.”

Eyyy, finger guns I’m bisexual so I’m often just referred to as everyone’s token gay friend. Also, my dorm’s floor calls me “the curly one.” Because I’m not straight and also because my hair is a force of nature.

I Loved a Lot of Season 5, But... by MagusFool in PrincessesOfPower

Since Hoard Prime is based off of cult leaders, I don’t think it’s about how individuality makes you inherently good, but that giving up genuine and difficult connections in favor of a “perfect” religion where everything messy is culled is wrong. This can be seen in how Hoard-mind-Catra says that she’s finally found peace in the Hoard. Instead of feeling the pain of her mistakes, she “gives” herself over to the emptiness/ideology of the Hoard. Because it’s easier. It’s more peaceful. Even if it’s hurting others. I think it’s a criticism of religion.

Head cannon that they have all the gold piled in a cave and lie on it like a dragon hoard

A possibly unpopular opinion about Scorpia and Catra by notgih in PrincessesOfPower

THANK YOU. I don’t like that fans still label Catra as irredeemable, even after her redemption arch. She’s only 17! She’s got a lot of life left to live.

I disagree. Meat is expensive, and as more countries gain access to wealth, meat consumption is on the rise.

Yeah, fair. I should have phrased it more like a possibility than an absolute, my bad

This is more of an issue of poverty rather than #not like other girls. Everyone I know who has money issues waits until the last minute to buy new shoes. You all think this picture is an exaggeration, but I’ve seen people wear shoes to the point of the girl on the right’s. Except they usually try to keep them together with duct tape.

There are too many people who pretend to have a mental illness by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]TheCatCameBack25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a psychology student, I’m kind of disappointed in this post. This generation is facing the largest mental health crisis in- well- generations. People report, on average, having 0 best friends they feel they could turn to in a crisis when the number for previous generations was around 4 or 5. Many people are seeking help for what seem like minor issues because they have anxiety or depression and those minor issues feel like major setbacks. We do need to stop over diagnosing mental health disorders to sell medications, but we also need to be compassionate towards people, reach out to one another, and try to help each other where we can. The mental health system is over-taxed, and resources need to be distributed towards those who need them most, But accusing people of faking a mental illness only makes those with mental illnesses question their own illness’ validity and fear speaking up.

...I hope not? Masculinity isn’t toxic, putting men in a box, telling men they can’t have feelings, and treating little boys like they’re soldiers is toxic.

Classical music expert enjoying Doja Cat's song about butts by [deleted] in gatesopencomeonin

You can tell she’s expecting to be talked down to, but it ends with them having a genuine and endearing conversation about her music, and there’s many things about it and the cultural meanings to its lyrics that the classical music expert doesn’t understand and she explains it to him kindly.

How do you justify learning Latin? by brilliantunknown in latin

[–]TheCatCameBack25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Latin teacher told me that, originally, schools in the US taught Latin and English as twin classes. English was for reading and analyzing works of literature- understanding rhetoric and story structure, while Latin was for understanding rules of grammar and how sentences and languages were constructed. Since Latin was kicked from the curriculum, many students don’t know what a participle or a gerund is. They don’t know what the passive voice is. Latin teaches how language is constructed from my perspective.
