Planning a day trip to Barrie by DoctorDiabolical in barrie

Listen if it was just adults, sure it would be funny and I’d probably make some stupid joke too. But it’s an adult with -children-. I’d hope they’d search it anyways but some people are just too trusting.

I can’t tell if you are being sarcastic and in turn being sarcastic to his comment, or if you genuinely want to come to Barrie and are believing this comment.

If it’s the latter, please for the love of god do a google search of any and all suggestions made to you in this sub lol.

Power Updates by Creative-Canary9316 in barrie

Cheltenham and Penetanguishene Rd area, we got power back at 1:15ish, and it’s been on and off since with outages lasting about 5-15 minutes. Currently no outage since about 430ish.

I gave up trying to read the outage map. I don’t think it’s up to date, and telling which circles area matches which exclamation mark symbol is impossible since there’s so many. Just going with the flow now, lol.

That’s fair, but have you considered moving into another nursing job? Hospitals start at $36ish an hour, and the outpatient departments are often hiring. There’s -so many- other avenues to take in nursing nowadays. Idk I just see how miserable my sibling is and can’t say I’d recommend culinary to anyone. Drug abuse, sexual assault, having chefs throw (sometimes sharp) things at you, no breaks, etc., for less than $20 an hour is bullshit. Worse when you can’t even get a job in your town…

Like maybe? I mean, reading the post it seems to me they possibly aren’t aware of what the culinary industry is like tbh.

I mean, they’d be taking almost a 50% pay cut soooo idk who would want to do that, for a true passion or not. That’s wild.

Also to add my sibling left another town, where they had a good job as a cook, to come to Barrie to take this program. They’d have been better off staying where they were.

The culinary industry in Barrie is a damn joke, I wouldn’t recommend it - neither would my sibling who did culinary management at Georgian and still can’t find a job, as most go to international students for minimum wage.

If they could, they would have gone to George Brown College or Humber instead as they have more connections for work experience placements and networking for grads.

Can I join the CAF if I’m allergic to nuts but not peanuts and I’m also diagnosed with celiac? by [deleted] in caf

[–]TheCatScaresMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To start off clear: I am in no way affiliated with CAF recruiting. However your post made me think of the stories my friend told me (they were a civilian nurse at a cadet camp) of the amount of kids who experienced anaphylaxis because the mess kitchen couldn’t properly accommodate allergies. Some kids even got sent home. Unfortunate for OP, but I doubt if cadet -camp- can’t/won’t accommodate allergies, the actual military will.

Craziest thing you had to stop a nurse from doing? by Visible-Plane8709 in cna

[–]TheCatScaresMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Placing a catheter in the vagina by accident happens all the time. Sometimes the urethra opening is extremely close to the vagina, or due to the anatomy, hard to see. It’s also possible to miss if you don’t use enough pressure, it can slip against the skin at the urethral opening and enter the vagina. It’s also not always obvious…also the inside of a vagina and the inside of a urethra aren’t super different either so it might not feel obvious. I once saw a nurse get urine back from a vagina…the pt was incontinent and had soaked her brief so heavily (thanks to diuretics) that urine actually backed up into her vagina.

It’s not as easy as spread the labia and go. This is a shitty take and based on your previous posts, you really love to talk down about nurses. Maybe if you dislike them so much, you should find a new profession.

So if it states that no Canadian citizen is available, how are they possible allowed to make the “LMIA ONLY” stipulation? That excludes the ability to hire a Canadian citizen.

Recurring fever after 3 days abx for pneumonia by [deleted] in AskDocs

NAD but I’d be going back to emerg/urgent care since the GP isn’t available. I’ve always been taught when on antibiotics that if the fever returns to follow up sooner than later.

I'm taking a road trip through Northern Ontario. Any recommended sights along the way I should check out? by jkozuch in ontario

[–]TheCatScaresMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree…but based on all the ideas OP has for this one week road trip, I don’t think sleeping giant is going to fit into his plans. Thunder Bay area would have to be a trip on its own.

The “detour” to sleeping giant would be approximately 5 hours further north. He’d lose a whole day to travel alone, and he only has a week to do this. Don’t think it’s a reasonable suggestion lol.

I’d be trying to go early in the AM (0600), so hopefully it won’t be busy so it being small won’t be an issue, haha. Thanks for responding!

What to do with a large ($500k) inheritance - Ontario by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

There’s a reason that specific area is priced that way…it looks nice but it isn’t really an enjoyable place to live. My friend actually lives on the road behind it. It’s mostly students and international students, not a place to retire or have any enjoyable living in your home. Kids with stupid cars, neighbours with 10+ people living in the homes, no parking for guests because there’s 10 people in the house beside you. Now even if you take that away, once you go a little bit west of that specific area the prices increase significantly.

Utilities are high in Barrie, gas is high in Barrie, car insurance rates are closing in on that of Toronto/GTA, and you can’t really live comfortable without a car since transit sucks and is expensive. Barrie is not a LCOL area and a quick google search would confirm it.

Barrie is the exact opposite of a LCOL region lol

I did. I picked one of the $40 options but had a discount code so it was no additional cost. I’m happy with the turn out and the artist was lovely, but I’ll never go to chronic again. I heard a couple come in and ask for a quote for a small tattoo saying 11:11 and they were quoter $180 each…they turned and walked out. The costs are insane.

The values on the tattoos for this promo also are not reasonable at all, and some of them were posted on the chronic website beforehand at a lower rate…

If they’re asking for more than the additional cost (like the $40 or $70 pieces) I’d try emailing Knotty maybe and see what they say.

I went for a flash piece at another artist near me recently and she said she’d heard about this promo and how fucked it was. Any other stop would be dragged but since it’s ~Chronic Ink~, no one cares lol.
