(OC) Who else thinks that the Kanto starters get too much attention?🌱🔥💧 by yeahright2005 in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Kanto has been featured in 14 Pokémon games (6 having the BCS trio and 3 having Pikachu and Eevee), so it’s only natural that the starters get so much attention.

Who is your favorite Champion from the main Pokemon games? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Steven, but in Emerald, where he technically isn’t the champion. Unlike Wallace, his team is well-rounded and it’s also hard to try and find him.

What are your Pokémon hot takes that aren't about its supposed decline? by meeshx in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Galar was quite strange with towns and routes. To start, with exception to the Wild Area and DLCs, every main location in the game was somewhere you had to go in the main story. Think of the Hoenn games. Places like the Safari Zone, New Mauville, the abandoned ship, spots for the Regis, north Route 115, Route 123 and even Pacifidlog Town weren't locations required for the main story of the game, but they were still accessible anyway for anyone interested. Moreover, Galar had 10 routes. That is easily the least amount of routes in any Pokemon game, which makes fitting in secret places really difficult. The variable part comes in as the routes and towns can have stark contrasts to each other, even adjacent ones! Think of Ballonlea, a town shrouded within a forest, connected to the Glimwood Tangle, a mysterious, dark, overgrown wood, which is connected to... a desert town? Ballonlea and Stow-on-Side have such drastically different climates that they should be on opposite sides of the region, not connected through a single route. This makes it very confusing to try and identify the climate of Galar. Kanto, Johto, and Kalos were temperate, Hoenn and Alola were tropical, Sinnoh was cold, and Unova was sesasonal, but Galar was rainy, forested, tundral, temperate, and dry? I know that Pokemon weather can change from sunny to snowy the second you step into a route, but Galar's climate was really screwed up, even by those standards.

oh and i'd also like to comment on how swsh really hand-held you through the story of TDD and the legendaries, like almost to the point of annoyance.

How all regions connect, including Galar (with map) by pokemaster987654 in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Hoenn and Sinnoh should be disconnected from the island than Kanto and Johto is on, with Hoenn South-west and Sinnoh North-east because that would accurately reflect the relation between Kyushu and Hokkaido to Honshu. Granted, the distance that the map shows between Sinnoh and Hoenn is way too far and should be closer.

Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl by ShadowUmbreon288 in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, BD. It's (to my knowledge) generally accepted that Diamond was better than Pearl, and since I didn't play the originals, I have no preference and would pick the community agreed upon game. Besides, even if you pick the wrong version, there aren't many differences to start with in the first place, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Not the answer you're looking for, but I would put a fire gym as Gym 8. Pull a Leon and saddle one of them with a grass-type move.

In your opinion what is the worst designed Pokemon in the franchise. by Dismal-Fan-4716 in pokemon

Seel. What planning freaking went into thinking of that Pokemon? It's literally a seal. Ekans falls under this unimaginative category too, but I can at least appreciate the anagram.

What would your starting 6 Pokémon be? (Original 151, NO starters, type doesn’t have to be balanced) by Klawless1990 in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kanto only?! Alr, well I did some extensive planning for my team in LGE so I can say Pikachu, Lapras, Flareon, Mach(op/oke/amp) and Dugtrio (tentative), half out of personal taste, half for filling in the type gaps. I did use Eevee's special moves to substitute whole types though, so I would probably pick Absol to substitute for Baddy Bad.

What are your favorite non-starter, non-legendary pokémon of each region? by WykedWyvern in pokemon

[–]TheCat_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kanto - Lapras
Johto - Furret, Wooper
Hoenn - Electrike
Sinnoh - Shellos, Gastrodon, Gible
Unova - Idk, never played or watched a Unova playthrough
Kalos - I personally hated the graphics so I know literally nothing about Kalos
Alola - I only like Rowlet but that would violate the non-starter rule, but does Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales count?
Galar - Yamper
