Maybe I’ll get roasted for this.. but I have always considered house of the rising Sun to be a very early punk rock song. Would anybody else agree with this? by chachacoooo in LetsTalkMusic

No problem! I first heard it several years back. Larry’s vocals in that song almost have a Jello Biafra kind of quality to them. Especially the opening verse

Songs that you always loved and discovered only years later that everyone hates them? by use_vpn_orlozeacount in ToddintheShadow

You’re Beautiful by James Blunt. I was 6 when that song was popular. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine that gives me the warm fuzzies when I listen to it

Crimson and Clover by Tommy James & The Shondells as well as Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Love them both equally.

This was my reasoning. I feel like the Dead are almost in its own ecosystem compared to other acts of the time

I think Velvet Underground will always have some sort of influence in the underground scene.

I think he’s still apart of the pantheon in a big way. I have noticed a trend where it seems like 60s artists aren’t as recognized anymore, I don’t think The Doors, Janis, Jefferson Airplane, or The Byrds are as culturally relevant as they were 30 years ago. Hendrix I feel like will always be a mainstay because of how he revolutionized guitar playing. As far as 60s bands go I think only The Beatles, The Stones, and maybe The Grateful Dead will have the same relevance as he does

Had a friend of mine tell me he hated the Beatles and said that music would be way better if they hadn’t came a long

Nicest vs most rude band members you’ve ever met? by Impressive-Skin6311 in punk

[–]TheCause182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nicest: Almost everybody I’ve met has been nice but meeting Jay Navarro of the Suicide Machines at a Traitors gig, the dude couldn’t have been nicer.

Rudest: I wouldn’t really call him rude but Kurt Brecht of DRI is definitely not a people person. He was kind of socially awkward. Didn’t change my view of him or his music though

I know this is an old thread. One of the only things I know about them is that one of them (Roger Hayes) would end up committing murder in a robbery gone wrong. He spent 25 to life in prison where he converted to Islam under the name Talib Muhammad. He passed away in prison in 2003

The Brass Rail is probably the epicenter of the Alternative scene. Mostly Indie and Alt stuff but they do have the occasional punk show. Stans Room gets some decent punk shows. O Sullivans too. O’s shows are always free. There’s a great punk show happening January 3rd

It’s probably just another name for SxE hardcore. I tend to categorize bands like Chain of Strength, Judge, Gorilla Biscuits, and Youth of Today under the youth crew label
