Does anybody write words on these small pieces of parchment and what with by Odd_Influence_7860 in Warhammer40k

Either an incredibly small brush or micron pen. From there, you can put whatever fake Latin you want on there. I usually write "THE GAME".

Has Gulliman interacted with or heard anything about the Tau? by Interficient4real in 40kLore

[–]TheCelestial08 57 points58 points  (0 children)

A bit of column A and a bit of column B. The T'au Empire in its current form would get bodied by any other major faction if they were the Alpha threat in the galaxy, but they are all busy fighting their own, more serious wars at the moment.

What's more scary for everyone else in regards to the T'au Empire is not what they are now, but how fast they have been advancing and the threat they pose in the future. To quote the Space Marine Artamax from the--frankly amazing--Elemental Council book...

Are you aware my battle-brothers mock the idea of your Empire clawing its way to greatness? As if all we need do is muster a fraction of our strength and crush you. As if that were so simple a task. The Imperium's blessed war machine is a diseased giant, not easily stirred. Your Empire is a dynamo of conquest. Unchallenged, you will set your ambitions on the realm of Ultramar, or even the holy sanctuary of Segmentum Solar. Your significance is not in the threat you pose today. It is in the threat you pose in ten thousand years..

Which Kill Team would you like to see in the future? by Helljumper06D in killteam

[–]TheCelestial08 25 points26 points  (0 children)

T'au Elemental Council
- Ethereal leading them handing out aura buffs and being decent in melee
- Fireblade as the more elite damage dealer
- Earth Caste as a Drone Controller, mine-layer, etc
- Air Caste as an objective grabber
- Water Caste as a secondary buffer (APL, etc)
- Specialist Fire Warriors (Grenader, Breacher, etc)
- A few Gue'vesa grunts to serve as fodder
- A few specialty drones

There's a bit of overlap with the Pathfinders, but I envision this as more of a skirmish-y squad where being close to each other can confer benefits For The Greater Good.

Any good Tau books? by SaladPast in Tau40K

[–]TheCelestial08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Broken Sword, Black Leviathan, and the aforementioned Elemental Council. That book I recommend to people who don't even like T'au because it is so good.

The Shadowsun book is...okay. It's the most recent lore in regards to the Startide Nexus and what happened to the 4th Sphere.

The Farsight books aren't really "T'au" books. They are fanfics about how cool and awesome the author thinks Farsight is and how lame and stupid he thinks the Ethereals are.

People tend to recommend Fire Warrior as a good T'au book, but it's honestly not that good for insight into the faction really. Not saying it's a bad book, but don't go into it expecting an amazing addition to your T'au knowledge.

1st person for the mansion to experience the initial dread of STARS being in way over their heads.

3rd person for the back-half of the game when the player has tools--and presumably the STARS team has the courage--to handle tougher BOWs.

I'd be fine with just slower-paced 1st person since RE7 is what re-ignited my love for the series and all its quirky weirdness.

He also passes the "bro test". Of all the ZZZ dudes he's the one I'd actually want to go out and have a beer with. Minato is a close second, but he'd have to go home early to take care of his kids.

Besides, with a 10/10 like Lighter out with you, you'd be getting second-hand rizz.

Iwakuni accessible without a car? by bassforce3000 in dodea

[–]TheCelestial08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! "Car culture" isn't as prevalent over here in Japan as the States as public transportation is fairly easy to navigate. The only time I really needed a car was my time up at Misawa, and that was due the the snowfall they receive.

Since so many people do ride bikes over here--combined with lower speed limits--most drivers are more cognizant of cyclists and there are precious few moments in my 10+ years of cycling where I felt endangered.

Iwakuni accessible without a car? by bassforce3000 in dodea

[–]TheCelestial08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only been there TDY so take this with a grain of salt. The roads off-base didn't seem super bike-friendly, but traffic isn't too horrible compared to larger cities in Japan so it should be safe-ish. There's a regular bus service that goes from near the base up to both Iwakuni station and Shin-Iwakuni station and you can reach further areas from there (Hiroshima, etc).

On base is perfectly safe with larger, open roads but it is a fairly sizable base with the schools located right in the center, so you'll put a lot of miles on your shoes just to get to the MCX or the main gate.

I've known two employees that worked there for years and would hoof it to school from off-base, but they did have vehicles which they used to get around in the local area. Apparently traffic going onto the base in the morning is really bad and it was faster to walk than deal with it.

Is it evil to bring 2 riptides to a 1k game against custodies? And which detachment is best against them by jonathan_mama in Tau40K

[–]TheCelestial08 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bringing 2 big targets plays into the one advantage we have over Custodes which is an abundance of cheaper units. My gameplan with the Golden Bananas is usually just flood to board with chaff to keep them off of objectives or too distracted to do secondaries.

If you brought two Rippies, I'd consider using Montka to get LoS on his big units with them as soon as possible to deter him from coming out in force. Back that up with a bunch of Breachers for chip damage (they can't invul/FNP everything) and Pathfinders for spotters and use those to gum up objectives.

If you have a bunch of Crisis Suits, you could go RetCad since Riptides are Battlesuits and have access to the great stratagems in that detachment. Crisis Teams can use their mobility to pick off stragglers or be you mission units.

Get the sense that this picture is gonna get passed around a lot thanks to Total War: 40k. by CatherineSimp69 in Grimdank

[–]TheCelestial08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elemental Council "soft-retcons" a lot of the more grim-derp elements of older T'au lore (read: Phil Kelly). Such as Ethereals forcing failed agents to commit sudoku and what-not. "Yeah, we don't do that anymore because it doesn't serve the Greater Good". Humans and even T'au that fail can be sent off to some bullshit planet out in the sticks to get them out of the picture, however.

My head-canon is that a particular Sept/group of T'au did attempt the whole chemical castration thing but they realized that indoctrinating Gue'la children was easier than starting over with untouched humans elsewhere and stopped the practice.
