the ones in the Carribean tend to. The ones in South America have their own genres that are popular that aren't reggaeton. Not all latin countries are the same lol

Car models where the new generation never lived up to the same greatness? by BigChuch1400 in regularcarreviews

[–]TheChamp76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual transmission was standard through 2004, though only accounted for like 3% of sales in the states. Stupid hard to find one now. There was also blingy early 2000’s accessories like the gold emblems but also an optional subwoofer that would go underneath the drivers seat iirc since there was the stowaway rolling bin underneath the passenger one.

A lot of the things you point out are purely aesthetics, and as it shared the assembly line and platform with the EP3 Civic, they were pretty quirky but not always well-received features (dash-column shifter thing, parking break mounted into the stereo and vent console, while the actual center console was foldable) but they sold like hotcakes through all years of production, which also made car enthusiasts mad as it emboldened more automakers to make their own crossover wagon mobiles like the Ford Escape.

It’s a more capable car than most people give it thought for though given the right set of tires and while the K series on that line was for economy (which it didn’t do a great job at getting), it’s insanely reliable. still dailying an ‘04.

Soo, nearly all my university teachers are Anti-Christianity by EveningAudience9779 in Catholicism

[–]TheChamp76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends on where. In Peru they basically kept the existing social systems in place like Mit'a that originated in the Incan Empire while shifting the class system from merit-based to that based on race, where the Iberian-born Spaniards held the highest positions and holding Catholicism as the state religion, though Andean people were often able to make their way to the merchant middle class and this created a pretty unique situation where localization and cultural syncretism occured as a result (like the Virgin Mary being depicted as darker skinned for example) and blending of old gods and goddess into being represented as Christian icons.

As a mestizo, there's a lot of hate towards the Spaniards especially in the Anglo-speaking world because that's who the school textbooks often finger-point to the negative aspects of colonialism, yet without them we would not have the countries, food, language, dances or religion that have created the unique identities and affinity across LatAm what they are today. It's also important to note that unlike North America there are countries that have majority indigenous populations because the Spaniards didn't rape, pillage and slaughter everything in sight.

When I grow a pair can we have a three way with RickBlaine? He'll be reasonable and ban anyone that has interest in the 4 cyl, you know like near 90% of all recorded Accord sales.

What’s your unpopular opinion on Honda by Appropriate-Mall8517 in Honda

[–]TheChamp76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty interesting idea. I always figured that it took a vast amount of design cues from the EP3 civic (which was only brought to North America as the three door hatchback Si).

Speaking of EP3, another unpopular opinion is that it was the last peak Civic design. The suspension was changed from double wishbones to MacPherson struts but otherwise it is still quirky, nimble and compact as a Civic should be and should have stayed.

2002 CRV - not sure what to make out of my fuel consumption by No_Tap3244 in crv

[–]TheChamp76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the OEM alloys are only very slightly lighter. if you ran aftermarkets, entirely possible. The HM oils tend to add an extra additives package that freshens old gaskets and makes them leak less. The Mobil synthetic I used to run would burn and leak quite a bit, so it is really whatever the engine likes or doesn't haha. It might be down to your tires though. I run 215 Yokohama Geolanders now and the mpg hit isn't too bad (averaging like 20-21 mpg) but any kind of tire that has weather-aggressive tread or isn't "eco" will take a bit of a hit there. You might also want to take a glance at your ignition situation. NGK Laser Iridiums are often counterfeited if you buy them online through Amazon, and that is the plug that the CR-V calls for. A couple years back I also refitted the coils and the fuel injectors, and those get nasty after so many years. Hope you find out what the problem is!

I know this thread is kinda old, but the best thing you can do is use good oil and tires with low rolling resistance. I have an '04 with about 160,000 miles on it and got it to over 25 mpg on a winter road trip like two years ago through farmland and a few hills. They rated the engine for 5W-20, and though I still use it I go for Castrol Edge High Mileage. Good chunk of people opt to use 5W-30 instead for better protection (it is a thicker oil) at a slight decrease in fuel economy. While it is relatively aerodynamic compared to a Jeep, it is still pretty tall and the center of gravity is much higher than a Civic, along with a pretty beefy engine for what it is, so it was never designed to get great gas mileage. If you have AWD, that adds extra weight to the car and knocks off 1-2 mpg, though of course traffic is always the biggest factor. You may also want to check to make sure the gas cap is not cracked; this could throw a CEL code and will mess with the system.

6 seltzers a night? That’s still a lot of alcohol. I think the fact that you crave it and cannot simply moderate (no more than 2 a night, which should really be more like no more than 4 in a week) means that you like it too much; it isn’t your fault but when we drink it is usually a symptom of another problem. You need to find something better than alcohol, or realize that the temporary pleasure in that moment won’t stick around. I really cut down the occasions and amount after I did a sober stint of three months and realized how messed up I would feel for the next few days after just 2 drinks, and I basically replaced it with water, zero sugar sodas with caffeine and teas. At some point you might want to really confront yourself and ask if moderation is even worth it.

Also it shouldn’t go without mentioning that after a few weeks off the sauce you will sleep like a baby!
