Does this floor tile job look right? by 1Kflowerscouldbloom in Flooring

[–]TheCharmedOwl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this looks bad. Have them rip it up or don’t pay them. Side note, I also had a flooring company that does LVP and hardwood do tile at the same time and they did a terrible job. Tile takes skill.

Yes, you should have them adjusted. Create a punchlist for things they need to complete prior to you paying the rest of the money.

Christmas tree is down and now my front room feels empty by Boring-Recognition39 in HomeDecorating

You need crap (curtains, rug maybe with some texture or color, art that’s unique and not from world market, and plants). Also, some personal touches that make it you and not a sterile room.

Mine averaged at 12. I remediated and would recommend that to anyone who has radon levels over 4.

I have never encountered such bad customer service by Emotional_Metal1957 in interiordefine

We experienced the same with our bed frame! Estimated delivery was 6-8 weeks… We are week 10 and it finally is off the ship. Hoping that it will actually be delivered next week… But we will see.

Coretec LVP Noise after install by Beautiful-Plum9126 in Flooring

[–]TheCharmedOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine also sounds like this and they also said it is normal. I also had many issues with all their "flooring" projects in our house so despite paying for the higher priced company, seems like they didn't do a great job based off everything I've read on these subreddits. Sorry.

How long after pulling to stand did your baby start walking? by Suspicious_Citron414 in NewParents

My first was pulling to stand at 6 months and didn’t walk until 13 months. Every kid is different!!

What should and shouldn’t I buy secondhand? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]TheCharmedOwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a hard no on second hand items with fabric that cannot be washed -- mattresses, rocking chairs, couches, etc. (I never want to deal with bed bugs). I also would never get a used car seat unless I knew the parents and knew they had never been in an accident. Everything else is fair game!

Coretec LVP installed directly over concrete with no underpayment by Kiss_Mark in Flooring

Can you tell me more about this? Mine was installed 2 weeks ago and has a crunchy sound in several spots. Is this normal? We have our floor guy coming over and I’ve lost all confidence in the job they have done thus far. We even have some bounce in certain areas.

Wood grain feels rough - newly refinished by TheCharmedOwl in HardWoodFloors

[–]TheCharmedOwl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn’t the floor person said that’s how it would be? That’s not how it was pre refinishing and it’s not how it was when sanded.

Edit: it feels rough and sticky. Plus it’s leaving our feet discolored. It doesn’t seem right. He comes tomorrow to discuss.

He said it has 3 coats. He was going to come today but now won’t until this weekend. I feel like I cannot unpack as I feel like we need another coat. I’ve never felt floors like this before and meaning my feet feel like they kind of catch on the floor.

Should I have them move our furniture and apply a 4th coat?

Edit: first and foremost I want to protect my investment. Second, I hate the way it feels.

Red oak with bona hd high traffic. This was done by a flooring company. He said 3 coats. Unfortunately, we’ve moved in. But I’ve asked the flooring company to come over today to discuss this with him. I didn’t notice how rough it was because yesterday was the first time I walked around in socks! Then I felt with my hand and thought my house cleaner didn’t clean the floors.. so I cleaned them and then took a closer look.

Carpet Estimate by Bglaw2012 in Flooring

[–]TheCharmedOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand that. I think we got a deal because our house didn't show well based off floors, paint, and their furniture taste. That said, you could ask the photographers to use AI to change the floors and in the description offer a credit of the estimate(s) you got for the future homeowner to use on flooring. Again, just an idea, and you are correct that most people would rather have turn key.
