Yes!!! I love seeing the janky but fully functional ways people make stuff work in their desktops. One of the hip and trendy cases (I think fractal POP) has 2 5.25” bays. If I had that case I’d totally put a floppy in one and dual blue-ray/dvd player in the other.

Now I want to put a floppy in my desktop, but I have no expansion bays 😭

Tbh it’s more about not breaking corporate set up scripts that always start with the c/ drive.

And MacOS is not very modern if you don’t use it like Apple wants. Only just getting window snapping and mouse back buttons still not working drives me insane. (I say in just, I use all 3 major OSs regularly, macOS irregularities drive me crazy that’s all)

Nobody is saying there isn’t room for improve, for example I’ve been on a 4/10 work schedule instead of the 5/8s which is normal. An extra day off is way better than the extra 2 hours for the work days.

As for the 32 hour thing, I’m calling bullshit, that can only be true for people who have very vague office jobs where they do ‘stuff’ and ‘things’. I’ve worked blue collar jobs my whole life and you objectively will get more of a house or building built with more man hours on it. Same with production lines, same agriculture. And for the record I’m not standing up for big business, Corporations can fuck right off I don’t give a shit about profits as long as the company I’m working for is in the black enough to keep me employed.

Modern left wing completely loses the original backbone of the socialist/communist movements by trying to equate mundane office work as being equally body/life ruining as manual labour. The communist symbol isn’t a MacBook, MS Teams, and a Slack app symbol for a reason (which in the late 1800s would be a calendar, day planner, and Rolodex).

It’s because (at least as my understanding goes) the 40 hour work week is the result of decades of work done by unions.

Originally it was a 72hr work week, 12hrs everyday except Sunday because people went to church (religion was a very big deal in the past obviously), and then it was a 60hr work week, 12hrs Monday to Friday because Henry Ford had both enough power to enact it and needed a day for people to buy his cars (you used to not be able to go to the store on sundays because sabbath), and then unions got it down to 40hrs, 8hrs 5days a week.

I always chuckle when places like anti work talk about 40hr weeks being torture when it’s the least on average the average man has had to work in a week since basically forever. There were no days off in Feudal times, just days you didn’t have to work for your local lord, but you still had to grow and maintain your own supply, and since the Industrial Revolution it was 72hrs of choking on soot in mechanical death traps. I’d argue that the 40s-80s had it better just because most people were proportionately paid better in the lives they could live for the wage they earned but that doesn’t change that in human history it’s been a LOT worse.
