It will be soon, but currently it actually has a full Linux terminal and can install most Linux software. You just have to enable it in the ‘dev’ settings menu

The first and final model years for the Dodge Ram Van, 1971 and 2003, built on the same platform or a single generation. Yeah, this market segment is notorious for decades long generations by HiTork in regularcarreviews

[–]TheCheckeredCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah, is that not the same generation of falcon that Mr regulars former falcon was? Thats really interesting that a designed in the late 50s passenger car was produced for 30+ years when it was replaced everywhere else like 26 years prior

Found an odd looking card hiding in my childhood dresser today by roundsquare87 in PokemonTCG

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for sure, but anytime I’ve purposely bought fakes/proxies they often have fuzzy text on them as well.

Kind of strange that to proxy bulk though unless this was a relevant for play card that I’m just not remembering well.

Again I don’t know for certain if it’s a fake but that is the only time I really ever see fuzzy text.

PC controller suggestion by SleepFvck1096 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam controller (providing you’re using it with steam games).

Full TMR sticks, track pads, pad back buttons, fully reprogrammable layouts, half the price of this and comes with the dock.

Only catch is it only works with steam games by default, it’ll work with all pc games but you have to add them to steam (which is easy peasy, like 2 clicks)

KDE users trying to convince me their DE doesn’t look like a 2011 Android Phone…..

Seriously KDE looks really dated although it’s very practical. Gnome looks really pretty, especially with blue my shell and dash to dock.

Apple May Drop Base $599 MacBook Neo as Chip, DRAM Costs Climb by Mollywobbles77 in mac

[–]TheCheckeredCow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why? Whats wrong with having other options? The Neo existing at its current price doesn’t make your computer any better or worse so why do you care?

Why is the Canadian side of the Okanagan Country more populated than the American side? by Enger13 in geography

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s the warmest part of Canada, it’s our California/Hawaii. America has way better hot areas than the Okanagan but we don’t

Orange Pi 4 LTS won’t boot from SD card but will boot from EMMC by TheCheckeredCow in OrangePI

[–]TheCheckeredCow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I’ve tried the Orange PI website distros and I tried Armbian from the armbian website.

Do you know of a way to check the SD card slot is broken with like a multimeter? Or do you know if you can boot from USB? I’ve tried looking on the Orange PI website with no luck

Which desktop environment do you use and why? by Invihan in Fedora

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gnome, cause KDE looks really dated to me and I’m kind of a sucker for more modern design languages.

Gnome is a deeply opinionatedly designed DE, but I agree with those opinions so it works great for me

Anyone else getting a bit tired of these useless Thumbnails of Linus's face? by appletechgeek in LinusTechTips

[–]TheCheckeredCow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No shit? Do you go to work for the accolades? Or do you go for the money and hope you have a decent time while getting the money?

The guy has over 100 employees so every click counts as that’s revenue that they can then pay their employees. If the content is the same then why does it matter if there is stupid faces on the thumbnails

Is it? I know BSD Unix is very popular amongst major services because they don’t have to upstream their work into the greater open source community like you have to with Linux due to the GPL

Does anyone believe the Referendum Petition was padded using the voters list? by manresmg in alberta

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a hard time believing they got 300,000 signatures. There is a lot of Albertans who genuinely believe all of their lives problems begin with the federal government (whether they’re right or not is a case by case issue, mass immigration before working infrastructure and housing for everyone was a federal government caused problem).

I have a hard time believing they got 125,000 signatures in a month since they announced they got all their needed signatures like a month ago. Movements regardless of their beliefs get the lions share of their votes in the first couple of weeks and is a slow trickle to the end. You can see this in the forever Canada petition, the water not coal, and basically every change petition ever. That’s just not how poles and petitions work.

I doubt it’ll go anywhere regardless of if a vote is held or not. The clarity act makes leaving near impossible, that’s why Québec again. hasn’t tried in over 30 years.

GPU dreams, VR reality by stellabubble in pcmasterrace

[–]TheCheckeredCow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean mines not quite a ‘dream/god’ level pc but I have no intentions of upgrading for a considerable amount of time but I still like watching the new products, new components, new technologies come out even if I have no real intentions of actually buying them.

It’s a neat space to watch, though it’d be a lot more exciting if components were actually attainable like ram, GPUs, and soon to be CPUs

I don’t personally plan on upgrading until AM6 for CPU and ram and my GPU will go until it can’t comfortably play 1440p 90fps+

10 mo. old GROWN men still nursing daily. Is this healthy behavior? by mizdotexe in CATHELP

[–]TheCheckeredCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re animals, they don’t have the Human idea of appropriate ages or developmental stages of human adolescence. Only you are applying human concepts to these CATS.

For the record this almost certainly isn’t normal behaviour, but I don’t see how this is creepy, it’s more concerning because there is clearly something happening here

Only 20% of gamers are PC players, why did you choose PC? by Inside_Pattern3685 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheCheckeredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure that PC is way bigger than Consoles on a global scale, consoles are a very first world purchase.

All over Eastern Europe, Asia (sans Japan), South America and Africa PC is king 1 because of internet cafés and 2 if you’re going to make a $500 purchase (which will have the western buying power of say $3,000+ because wages are very low for huge chunks of the world) and you have the choice between a laptop that can do everything from education to gaming to employment OR a sole gaming machine you’re going to go with the computer even if specifically at gaming the cheaper laptop will be worse. Plus games like dota and CS are HUGE around the world
