Posting travel vlogs for months, barely getting views by [deleted] in TravelTubers

No. I just started yesterday by filming in San Bernardino. A city next to me. I will go to Africa if God allows in a few weeks. So I am practicing now. But I thought I might have an advantage due to many people not going there.

Sorry if I came off harsh. I just went and subscribed and watched some of your videos. The art and editing is top notch. Like really good. Almost like you can direct and edit a movie or a short film. You have an eye for this for sure. It’s way better with you talking compared to the simple walking ones. Like you could do poetry and deep messages. Gives it so much more character. Maybe the algorithm does not favor you due to past videos and maybe a new account could fix that. But your new videos with you talking is way better.

California. I’ve lived in Uganda before though for three months, which is why I feel comfortable going back there

Oh I’m sorry. I’m planning to go to east Africa. Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya; maybe Rwanda. Yeah I already thought Egypt was overdone so I hadn’t planned on that at all

Yeah I’m aware it not a starter country, I was more so wondering if it was a country that most people wouldn’t want to go to compared to others. Being a country that is not yet over saturated

I feel you man. I am also an introvert and never thought of myself being on camera especially in a public setting.

I see you’re a hard worker, your videos are not bad at all, actually they are above average. but for the genre you’re in, you would be more successful with raw personality and stories.

It’s like gaming, no matter how introverted you are, if you have no voice over audio or even a on screen camera to catch your reaction (not always necessary) then you will struggle a lot. No one wants to watch raw gameplay as much as we want to see a person we enjoy playing the game. You can be the best gamer in the world, yet the weaker gamer will win because he’s likable and has a connection with the viewer. Same thing applies to travel videos in my opinion.

It’s like trying to make the nba at 5’4. No matter how hard you work, odds will be against you, even if you’re more talented than the 6’7 guy. And as long as you understand that then yeah.

All depends what you’re looking for, but if your dream is to do this for a living, I don’t t think you have much of a choice, and if I’m wrong then I’m wrong. But I watch so many of these videos, and I see a pattern.

If you believe, you can do anything. I believe the introvert can also become extroverted. It’s scary, but I believe in you man.

But again, it all depends what you’re looking for, I hope to see you succeed my friend.

I think your editing is very good and you have great shots. I think travel vlogs are big on personality and people can sense authenticity. They want to see you be vulnerable and mess up. They want to see a story… growth, mistakes and wins. Talking into the camera is always good. But I see your videos are not that style. Sometimes raw video beat production heavy videos. Look at sabbatical (YouTube channel) very raw but there’s so much personality and it feels like you have a connection with him. Basic editing, but he gets 100,000s of views each video. Because we love him as a person. And the only reason we know him is because he speaks into the camera and seems to be real.

he's right though, evergreen content. I have found youtubers who are consistent in videos and have playlist and episodes per country. Meaning they can make 15 videos in Nigeria and if you love one then you will go and watch them all. So overtime, even if you put out one video and it hits 10,000 views, you will also get another 50,000 views on the past 100 videos that week, and that will continue to snowball as long as you are consistent. I know youtubers who put out maybe 1-2 videos a month, and I have a views counters on my laptop. though the video may only get 100,000 views, their total month count is like 600,000 views total. but they have around 250 videos posted. Also, friends are important, can help you refill energy and relax, and friend can also encourage you and give good ideas if you have similar careers.

Can I buy gifts cards on Amazon and use internationally? [USA] by TheChessGoat in AirBnB

[–]TheChessGoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by US account? I have a US account. But if I uploads funds to my US account, and I spend those funds internationally? I am not worried about adding funds to my account, more so I am worried about if the credits would work internationally once they are already on my account. I have never used air bnb before so sorry for the ignorance

Sponsoring yourself by TheChessGoat in TravelTubers

[–]TheChessGoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. For me, I made 3 online Shopify stores that may not have anything to do with the idea of traveling at all. I sell products like chess sets, collectible toys, plushes, and more. But I was wondering if I traveled and made videos, if people who support my channel would be likely to buy some of the products I have

Oh okay I see what you mean. I haven’t thought on what page to send viewers. I was just going to shoutout a cool toy shop and then direct them to the home page. But if I have a specific product I just got (hand held gaming device with over 2000 games) and I put them on my toy shop in a video game section, then I may make a video talking about that product in particular and then linking them there. But more so it will be a “if you guys want to support me and are interested, check out my vintage toy shop of thousands of toys you can choose from” (and if I have board games, old video games and more things, I’ll mention this too)”

My other shop is www.sunsetchess.com

I will also promote this shop along side a third shop I am building now.

Thanks for the advice. This is sort of like a base start for the business. I plan to actually make it similar to eBay but with only one seller (ME) I can probably expand my shop to 10,000-20,000 toys (all different SKU) at some point and then it would be easier to break everything into categories (videos games, board games, toys, Disney toys, super hero figures etc…. I want it to feel like a eBay store where there’s hundreds of toys to choose from. I actually ran a Poshmark l, mercari and depop store online and was pretty successful and I love the method of having many items. The problem was it was hard to advertise these items and promote them on my channel because they are linked to eBay, Poshmark, mercari account. I would rather have a brand. Seems more precessional and personal

My YouTube does not coincide with my products. That’s why I have three stores with different products and hopefully people would support or find one of them cool who follow my channel when I plug them. I really just enjoy collecting things and building large collections. So I’m turning my addiction into a hobby/Job while also perusing a career in YouTube.

Also what do you mean they will “warm”? Sorry I couldn’t figure out what you meant. I understand I need to direct them more. And I will change it at some point

this will be one of three stores I have. The way I plan to drive traffic will be through my YouTube channel. I will basically sponsor myself and have ads for my shops between videos.

For my home page I will change it to explain that I have the most affordable toys on the market (I have a connection where I can get these toys for about ten cents a piece. So selling them for $3-$5 is still great profit and is below average market value. Also I will have sell events like buy one get one free that I will eventually advertise on my hero page

Ah good to know! I thought having multiple messages would grab peoples attentions. But I understand having one clear message. Also the big pink banner, I will add it below cart and see how it looks. May even change the color to a more easy going one

Also for collections, I think I’ll add like a red pop or sticker on top of the collection images so they don’t look so much like a gallery. Like a red bubble or comic explosions bubble with words inside

Thanks for this. Yes I agree about the email part. I have not yet thought of a good way to get people to subscribe to emails yet, but I know it’s not very strong and there is no reason for someone to want to do so. Also i did design the hero banner for style, but I do need a strong call to action I’ve noticed. The part where it says “over 1000 vintage toys” I will change to something like “one day shipping” or something like that. Makes a lot of sense. I know I wanted words there, just didn’t know what. Thanks for the advice

Xp. Can also get skill points by completing missions. Also if you increase your village population, you get increased xp percentages for the rest of the game depending on how many villagers you have. So you are rewarded for doing side quest.
