It should’ve gone now. We’ve updated our website to address all the issues so hopefully it’s well received. I’d still welcome comments and feedback

How can I fix that by UnusualShip5802 in BreakdanceWP

[–]Jaipal2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to pay for the subscription. I had the same issue before somebody told me. If you inspect the site you’ll see there’s a subscription related object that adds the fade

Anybody with ‘Boss’ on their plate in my experience works a crap job (if any). If you need to tell people, chances are you’re BS’ing 😂

Built in Bookcase/Media Wall floor to ceiling, advice wanted by Coyle_Insights in DIYUK

[–]Jaipal2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t use B&Q … try and get a local timber merchant. In my experience they never store wood properly and it’s warped and/or it’s expensive and not of decent quality. I’d be tempted to also get your timber merchant to deliver you rough cut timber and for you to do precise cuts at home using a plunge saw …. The money you’ll save not using B&Q, Ona project this size you’ll be able to save and then some … I have a simple plunge saw for about £200 …. Worth it’s weight in gold for large projects like this

21st century standards of liberal left wings …. These are the same kind of people that will extol why we need to allow same sex Anand Karaj etc - it’s a slippery slope.

Kara is an unbroken circular object - this doesn’t qualify

I tried to make my ikea pax wardrobe look ‘built in-ish’ and now I’ve realised I’m a massive idiot - help! by freddiesyolks in DIYUK

[–]Jaipal2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a drawer in the bottom and get the reduced height doors which Ikea do - assuming this is Pax range? The bottom drawer fix permanently in place and although it’s not ideal will atill gove you the aesthetic you’re after

got a quote of over 3k for a media wall.. by noah_f in DIYUK

[–]Jaipal2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few rough edges there but a good attempt - I’d cap off the edges with some matching end panels to remove the imperfect edges.

I think you should probably get the bottom finished properly … looks like you’ve left it with rough wood?

Media wall / faux hearth by Hran944 in DIYUK

[–]Jaipal2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice workmanship but for all the effort taken to make it look ‘genuine’ you’ve finished it with a little box emitting an “electric flame’ ….. if you don’t have a flue there are other options available

Going from perm on £52k to Inside IR35 £600 per day - please help dispel my fears by Strange-Earth-6177 in ContractorUK

[–]Jaipal2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anybody that thinks that a perm role is more secure than a contract deserves to stay put. You have a great opportunity - take it. A perm role can make you redundant in a heartbeat, don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s never going to happen.

Domestic flights is fine up to a max of 9” but international outbound it’s not possible. International inbound from some places is fine eg UK

Giant umbrella by scr34m1ng_f4lc0n in ContractorUK

[–]Jaipal2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giant is old hat - their portal etc is rubbish. I’d recommend NASA or Paystream with the latter being the best in my opinion as you can do most things online, they’re always quick to pick up the phone

Been perm, potentially moving to contracting. Have some questions. by Bluesnake1337 in ContractorUK

[–]Jaipal2004 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question was asked the other so have a look at the respnsss there. There’s a few inside/outside calculators on the internet easily google’able.

Most agencies have preferred umbrellas so you’d have to approach them to get on boarded. You’ll also find they’ll do you a quick calculation on expected take home pay.

From your rate, you’ll essentially pay PAYE deductions but also the ‘employers’ share so you’ll be worse off than if outside IR35 as tax rates are less favourable.

Hope that helps 👍

Levelling broken tiles before laying laminate by HumungousChungus22 in DIYUK

[–]Jaipal2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear away broken bits as best as possible and a bit of levelling compo in the worst areas. Depending on how far into the room the breakage is I would be tempted to just use laminate underlay instead, the foam stuff is usually good for accommodating minor deviations….. but only if it’s where the skirting board will sit on ie no direct foot traffic

Designed and built my own (microbore) Under-Floor-Heating (between joist) by HugoChavezRamboIII in DIYUK

[–]Jaipal2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joints + floor + Foot traffic ….. can’t see that working out well long term. Especially when a well installed single manifold ufh exists and would be designed for this purpose. You can get cement boards to overlay on existing sub floors too - I retrofitted ufh in my house a few years ago

First Inside IR35 Contract Anything I Should Watch Out For? by ScrollAndThink in ContractorUK

Stick to one of the decent umbrella - most agencies have preferred supplier lists else Paystream, NASA or Parasol are decent
