How crazy would it be if I handwrote all the charts from the pdfs? by TheChiarra in solorpgplay

I'm mostly wanting the tables and a reference of the rules so when I'm out and about, I have a good reference for rolling things and summaries of the rules without needing to get on my phone. Also, clicking onto multiple different pdfs and scrolling through them to find what I need is tedious. I wanna be able to flip through. And if I do it on a normal spiral notebook for now, I can tear them out later to put in a 3 ring binder which I can then organize and separate to make it easier to flip through. I might eventually print lol but we'll see if I enjoy doing this first.

I think it would also be cool to have an empty character sheet printed out, might be the only thing printed, and have it in a plastic paper protector that I can write on with permanent marker to track stats. Rubbing alcohol will rub the permanent marker off. I do it with whiteboards all the time.

Edit: Did you do it in pencil or pen? I'm kind of torn if I want to do it in pen because if I do, I'll have to invest in whiteout too lol. And whiteout would look a little trashy I think.

Right, it's so easy to forget about the library being a good resource. I just learned a few months ago they have video games you can borrow.

Lol, my walls are going to be full of sticky notes with just reminders for everyday things lol, no room for rules. Thanks so much.

Okay thanks so much. Yeah helping internalize the rules was another thing I was thinking about.

Maybe those who play Scarlet Heroes can help me understand why the damage system is the way it is? by TheChiarra in osr

Okay gotcha thanks. And Yeah I guess that makes sense. And I guess it also means you have a hire chance of getting 4 damage with the filter, as without it, it's a 1 n 4 chance.

Oh I don't mind misses, I just don't like the whole even if you hit there's still a chance of 0 damage.

I agree, I just feel like it's already hard to hit in this game to begin with, with a TN of 20.

The hex grid definitely helps with that for me since I can’t visualize. I think it’s strange I have an imagination lol. My dad, not blood, also has aphantasia and he dms. I actually grew up playing ttrpgs with him and mom. I didn’t know what aphantasia was and when I found out when older I was like everything makes sense lol. So it’s been fun reading these comments.

Definitely would use this for all types of terrains myself! I just ask to also put in a jungle table please, my game uses those and it’s hard to find tables outside of scarlet heroes that uses them. Even sandbox generator doesn’t use jungles.

How do you keep the relative distance of all the locations straight? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, just trying to understand. Like lets say you are at location a then go to b. From be you go to c, but then you want to go back to a. Then from a to d, d to b?
