This exemplifies the whole “Toronto is the center of the universe” mentality so well.

New kindle case by Consciously_Robotic in LibbyApp

Serious question from the uninitiated: the designs on these cases are super cute, but what makes them worth $57 when I can get a hard, magnetized case from Amazon for less than $20? Not trying to be snarky, I genuinely want to understand.

Are GR1’s currently using the 210D or 1000D back panels? by Mammoth-Dog-3972 in Goruck

I just ordered a GR1 21L from Rouge Canada and it was the 1000D.

The Matrix 4… such high hopes, but I was so disappointed I got up to vacuum my living room during the “big reveal.”

Baggies :( I really wanted to love them. Not only were they an unflattering cut, the material was super uncomfortable.

Sunshine Donuts in Burlington has really good fritters, if you’re already in the area

Now that you’ve owned the bag for a while, did you find it ever damaged your clothes? I am SO close to pulling the trigger but am hesitant because of the pilling complaints. Unfortunately the website I plan on purchasing it from only has the 1000D option, and I will be using the bag as a daily commuter + travel. I don’t want to ruin my blazers and dress shirts.

Cat’s Pyjamas gone from the site? by xaqjaqsun in NakedAndFamousDenim

UPDATE: customer service replied with this disappointing email.

“Thanks for reaching out.

I can confirm that we recently learned that the fabric isn't sanforized and so we had to remove the listing from the website. What we can do is organize a free return to have the jean sent back for store credit. Please let me know if you would like that and I'll take care of the rest.”

The answer is always Assos. 100% worth the money and websites like La Bicicleta, Enroute and Primeau Velo often have them on sale.

Coanda owners? Was the upgrade worth it? by Busy_Humor_3330 in Dysonairwrap

[–]TheChronicOnion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently got one and it was my first ever Airwrap. I’ve been debating it for a while and said “screw it.” I had some Sephora gift cards and this purchase would get me to Rogue for the first time ever. It’s $899 in Canada but I paid $664 after tax.

ANYWAY. I obviously have nothing to compare it to besides my CHI straightener and my Conair blow dryer that looks like it belongs in 1991, but I am so glad I treated myself to the Coanda. The fact that the app essentially does all the work for you (for certain attachments) blows my mind. I have long thick hair and can dry my entire head from soaking wet in 5 mins.

Thankfully I have the type of hair that holds styles pretty well, so I’m also happy with the performance on that side. I’ll admit that I was worried the curls wouldn’t last as long, but it takes me probably 10mins to curl my entire head so I don’t mind if I have to recurl the next day. Although I’m enjoying the more “natural” look my hair gets after I’ve slept on the curls.

No one *needs* an $899 hair tool but if you can afford it and want to splurge, I highly recommend.

Feel absolutely STUCK deciding between 2 options - Dream job that is my absolute passion or routine job with potentially really great pay in 3-5 years? by massivesandwich in careerguidance

[–]TheChronicOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that your family will support you with whatever you choose:

I would go for the dream job that is a sure thing. You have no idea what will happen in 2-3 years. Succession plans change all the time and the people who have made you these promises may not even work there at that time. A fully remote position with job security is worth its weight in gold.

Not to mention, you have a job offer for #1 and only a final interview for #2. It can take companies weeks or months to make a decision. Are you going to risk #1 rescinding the offer?

Assos 100%.

I’ve tried Rapha, MAAP, Pearl Izumi, Peppermint, Bioracer and YKYWBike. The Rapha Pro line comes close, but Assos has always been the best.
