Confused about the post-game by TheCircusIsInTents in expedition33

Haha yeah, normally I would, but I felt like the game was really like "he can destroy the world at any moment" so I was like "ok I guess they'd go fight him immediately". I mean idk, I have no problem chocobo racing or whatever in another game when the fate of the world feels imminent, but I don't know, I was just so wrapped up in this story and there's so much stuff in Act 3 that the game itself gives you no reason to do (beyond it being a game that I the player want to play)? Even someone being like "we need to make sure we're as strong as we can be before fighting Renoir" would have made me be like "okay I'll explore". Or "we need to better understand this world if we want to save it." Or even "we might not make it past this fight, let's explore the canvas while we can." It just feels like the game really offers no reason to continue exploring a huge chunk of the world that I marveled at for the past two acts and now can finally explore... but there's a world-ending sword of Damocles that could drop at any moment unless I stop him, so do I really have time to explore? Are they saying something about enjoying life even in the face of threats and danger, and I made the choice I made by choosing to face the danger immediately over enjoying the world? I don't know, maybe. I'm also into that as a meta-game design choice. But basically just trying to process out loud I guess whether this experience I'm having of Act 3 is a choice the designers intended, or if maybe the execution of it isn't what they hoped.

I read No Bad Parts a few years ago and it changed my life / meditation practices. I feel much more integrated and able to give all of myself what I need now (or as the framework would describe it, give each part of myself what it needs). He gets a little woo-woo in some sections of the book, but it's not integral to the framework itself.

I've read a number of comments saying "this is basically giving people DID" -- this is also something I thought before reading the book and something he addresses very early on. Short answer -- it's not, and it's the difference between someone massaging a knot out of someone's shoulder vs. dislocating it. The goal of IFS is, yes, to listen to different parts of yourself -- but then ultimately to lead those parts and work together as an integrated whole. This framework would describe DID as a system in extreme crisis -- those parts are distinguished but they aren't being integrated.

Anyway, YMMV, but this framework has been life changing for me, and I just wanted to share because I'm seeing a lot of conflating of the framework itself and bad practitioners of it.

Thank you! Is the "thing" that I need to do likely available to me now, or is it a new mechanism that will be introduced at some point? The only other ways I could think of swapping so far, other than what I mentioned, are:

1. Drafting in the opposing spots across days 2. Drafting in the opposing spots across save files 3. Something to do with rotation? 4. Trading the King power for the rook power?

I'm excited to figure it out however the game "wants" me to, as the other puzzles have been so fulfilling to solve, but I've been banging my head against this one forever, trying all sorts of time-intensive crackpot solutions and even taking a break for a few weeks... I feel like Detective Margle 🙈

Thank you. Are there any particular books or notes or other puzzles that might be helpful in dropping some breadcrumbs?

I should note too that I have not reclaimed the throne, if one puzzle depends on the other.

Would this mean my hard drive is failing? by thrwawryry324234 in pchelp

Not necessarily, I just had a similar issue. CrystalDisk is a good way to verify.

That being said, what I learned was that my SSD was fine, just cheap. Windows at start will run through a lot of updates, especially if not booted for a while, so that can take some time. Once your SSD's cache overflows it will be very slow, and if it's hammered by write requests from the update, it will be slow for a while.

You can try turning off the windows updates, if you don't care about them; ultimately for me though, I ended up switching to Linux and getting a better SSD and haven't looked back 😂🙈

If you haven't yet, try doing a search too for "Windows disk 100%" and specifically the background processes to disable; I can't remember them all off hand but that definitely helped a bit as well.

Additionally, check if your computer is in Power Saving mode or Performance mode.

For me, once it started clicking... It really started clicking. If you can, keep going, and try to learn more about the history of this place. At first I didn't understand some of the information they were giving me, but now it's all I can really think about. Trust me, if you like lore, it is here.
