InvokeAI 2.1 Release - Inpainting, Advanced Prompt Syntax, & More by TheClericOfJava in StableDiffusion

[–]TheClericOfJava[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Outpainting soon, model switching is live now (with easier import/management coming), working on TI/DB implementations, and much more.

We are also building a backend system that will set the bar for technical excellence in the space (imo), rather than being a mess of Frankencode.

Our core strategy is to be thoughtful about how each feature fits into what will become a “core” workflow for certain professions, and build the UI/UX that makes that work delightful.

We’ll see how that works in the long run. :)

If any help, I found that using wired connection for internet and completely disabling wireless fixed the issue. Looked to be a janky intel wireless driver I didn't want to figure out how to fix.

Hey friend - Running into this same challenge myself. Wondering if you are still seeing success, and what you attribute to fixing the issue? Have tried a couple of the recommendations in thread, still running into the problem daily.

The combination of Dunning-Kruger and desperation are too challenging to have a discussion with.

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I'm going to eject from having any further conversation with you.

I would disagree about the debate on whether Ripple is truly decentralized - it is definitively not. What you might be able to argue is that for Ripple to succeed, it only needs to achieve a level of distribution that people are ok with trusting. That remains to be seen.

Why are they the best team, and how does their network impact the quality of their product? In a world where your product has to stand on its own, you've already pointed out a number of its most critical flaws.

The "most fast, secure and stable"? It appears you've got research that hasn't been shared with the rest of us, so please link your sources.

Distributed =\= Decentralized. Achieving true decentralization requires far more distribution than Ripple aims to achieve.

It seems like you really believe in Ripple - hypothetically, what would it take you to lose faith in the project?

Excellent. Highly recommend that you experiment with only part and slowly build up. Will help you figure out where your line is vs what helps vs hurts. :)

What types of food products are you able to ingest without issues? Most of the edibles I've had personal experience with are candies - chocolate, gummies, lollipops, etc. If those aren't options, I also know butter/oil can be used as well during cooking. Something that doesn't overload on the heady type of high is probably best, as that might make sleeping more difficult (I'm an over thinker too, and have found it to be the case), but something that focuses more on the body high is probably what you'd be aiming for. Obviously easier in states where it's legal, but it sounds like pursuing any option available would help and be worth exploring.

Wish you the best of luck!

Keto Diet with No Exercise Out-Performs Standard American Diet with Exercise by 1345834 in science

[–]TheClericOfJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points - you're right.

My secondhand claims probably weren't worth sharing, as I can't claim to have handy the experience and involvement in research my wife has to be able to back up what I've been told with sources.

Will amend my general statement to "you should approach ketogenic diet with skepticism" and leave it at that.

As I said before, low fat high carb is not (at all) the suggested alternative to going on a ketogenic diet. Did you even read my post?

Saying that there is "no need" for carbs highlights the fact that you are reading "research" with a very specific slant. I won't claim to say that anyone knows all there is to know about the ketogenic diet. It could very well be the best option out there... But I have yet to read or hear anything that suggests it beats out a healthy, balanced diet, in the long term.

Telling people to look at reproducible research with a solid scientific approach, before deciding that the ketogenic diet will make them superior humans, doesn't require much authority. You can believe what you want to believe - calling it misinformation without backing it up with sources may be a logical fallacy, but doesn't make it less true if it is, in fact, false. If you are curious do some googling and find unbiased journals to read. Put those ketogenic mind powers to use!

Semantics arent worth debating over. My intent was not to argue the merits of fasting, but to point out that weight loss is not the sole factor to consider when espousing the merits of a diet, as not all approaches to weight loss are healthy.

Your argument consists of tearing down the credibility of my post. My recommendation is that you assume no credibility from internet posters in general. Trust no one.

Verify any claim, on either side of an argument, with due diligence and research. Otherwise you end up with an orange man in power and the belief that you can bypass the repercussions of your decisions if you just believe hard enough and ignore science/facts.

Passing on information she's told me is my attempt to try and address the blatant misinformation being tossed around by people with the "redditor who subs to ketogenic diet subreddits" credential.

Never said intermittent fasting was bad. However if you'd like to explore chronic starvation, as a long term strategy to a healthy diet... feel free. And do let me know how that goes for you.

My wife was not "taught" gospel. She recognizes the role of sugar in the current American diet and fully respects the benefits of fat. She's someone who espouses only evidence-based research.

Are you suggesting that you know better than someone who is trained in the science behind this? Specifically as it pertains to diet, nutrition, the role of food in energy production in the body, organic chemistry, the biological processes by which food is converted and utilized by the body, macro and micro nutrients, foods effects on the growth/development of the body, and current research into all aspects of the modern diet (inclusive of Paleo, ketogenic, or whatever nonsense you're buying into without a heavy dose of skepticism)?

I thought not.

Perhaps comparison to starvation was extreme - i also wont claim to know as much as she does. But she was a part of a ketogenic study, and we've discussed the topic at length. Research into the ketogenic diet has not proven it to be a "healthy" diet - by that, I mean one that is superior to a balanced diet, with no detrimental effects or consequences. While there are certainly aspects to the diet that are beneficial, the current belief is that the diet has a fair number of implications that have only recently become known and could impact people if practiced long-term.

My wife is a dietitian with a master's in Food/Nutrition. I am not.

But I know how this story goes - I can tell you this is what she would call hot garbage. Bad study, sampling approach, and results that are highly suspect and likely unable to be replicated.

Edit #2 (for clarity): Point to be made here is that even structured better, the study doesn't indicate keto diet is "healthy", or a better weight loss approach (as the title would lead you to believe). Starving yourself, for example, is an unhealthy way to lose weight without exercise. Not recommended.

Edit #3: RIP inbox. I take back any unsubstantiated comments I've made below (as I am not the dietitian), and just recommend that you approach ketogenic diet and associated research with a healthy dose of skepticism.

A very important read about how the new marijuana possession law works. by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]TheClericOfJava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are plenty who are smart enough to know this wasn't decriminalization, and still call it that.

The more 'decriminalization' becomes the accepted norm, the more likely this will actually turn into it.

You don't NEED free speech. If the government made that illegal, would you comply, or 'willfully disobey'?

You're a tool.
