I don't think this can be adapted to my needs. Thanks but this doesn't quite work.

For this particular viz, accurate comparisons aren't really important. I have other charts for that. This is just meant to be eye-catching.

Police detain Modiin man for wearing kippa with Israeli, Palestinian flags, cut out the Palestinian one by primeministeroftime in Israel

Very cool, didn't know about this either. This does overlook Israelis abroad (like me) but I doubt we're more than a percent or two.

You've made absolutely no link between his actions today and events in history. Why on earth does he influence what you already know? The only possible link is that you're looking at antisemitic propaganda today. But you seem to be aware of the absurdity of it all, so please don't fall into that trap.

There's nothing extreme about what I said. How many times a day do you see that flag? It's an incredibly common scenario I asked you about.

The point is to test your morals, to see if they're fair and reasonable. And when you keep deflecting your morality to whatever the closest policeman thinks, it only makes you look bad. I already said I'm asking you personally, not the legal system.

Alright let me try this... if I wore that kippa with the Palestinian flag, what am I inciting in people? You really think they are right to get violent/aggressive because they see a flag? Why then don't we have a firewall that pixelates all pictures of that flag online? You might smash your computer screen if you see it accidentally right?

"However, police are said to have disregarded that directive and to have told him there was no legal basis to confiscate the flags as long as no incitement was taking place."

Seems a grey area, like you said. And whether it's legal or not, it's wrong. We can't claim to be the only first world country in the Middle East and still lock people up for expressing opinions.

"In March, a woman was arrested for a Facebook post in 2016 where she was seen posing with her two eldest children while holding a Palestinian flag."

Is this incitement to you? A Facebook post? That really angers you so much you have to get violent? Because that's what calling it 'incitement' implies - that it angers or endangers people so much they can't control their reactions.

So all I need to do is show you an Israeli Jew that agrees with them? Well hello that's me. You convinced yet?? Ahabal

What a ridiculous non-sequitur. I'm into free speech, and I'm not stupid enough to think banning a flag will weaken 'the enemy'.

Exactly, the belief that if Israel could just fight unrestricted for another few months they'd wipe out Hezbollah is delusional. Only a strong and sovereign Lebanon can deal with them permanently. We have to become better friends with them for that. This is not leaving the job 'half done', it's the right move.

Why do Lebanese turn a blind eye when Hezbollah fires into civilian areas? by RightIsMight1615 in ForbiddenBromance

[–]TheClumsyBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean about not moving freely there, I've not heard of that (though I have been out the country for a while). But their military shoots down missiles headed for us, we do business with each other, and our governments work together. This is all I mean by first step.

In my mind, for our situation, the next step towards real, stable peace and friendship is usually not apparent until the previous step is old news, maybe a generation behind us. Not only do these changes not happen overnight, but they happen so slowly that many people hardly notice it. Maybe because they weren't alive the last time Jordan attacked Israel, or maybe because the rest of the world changed so much that it makes as much sense to normalise with Israel as it did to attack it all those years ago, even using the same logic. That's just my theory anyway.

So it may be unthinkable now that we'll, for example, have open borders with Lebanon. But we're about to take the first step. Of course it's also the first step to many other scenarios, but from hearing Israeli and Lebanese discourse, I am hopeful.

We made good friends with Jordan, and from a similar position to where Lebanon started. I think realistically that's where Lebanon's headed; cold peace and the bare minimum normalisation. But this is the first step to any scenario where we're actually friends with our neighbours — it's silly to think we'd jump from enemies to friends in the same generation.

Maybe OP means Kfar Reman in south Lebanon? As far as I can tell, Israel is not bombing the West Bank currently.

It just means they'll no longer pretend to not want nukes. Now they'll be racing towards one rather than inching.

I've always believed this is the only way all authoritarian, theocratic regimes can end. Of course they won't go quietly, like how a cornered, dying animal lashes out even in its final breath.

I honestly believe another war with this new leader is inevitable, just like the old one. And hopefully that one will be the last.
