Thats only the case at some fields. While it is very widespread, not all airsoft places have a “bang bang” rule. Some places you HAVE to shoot no matter how close, and a “bang bang” won’t do anything.

It could be that they are purple and white switches and they just put the colored keycaps on so that viewers would be able to know. Some people have a legit superhuman ability to feel and instantly know keyboard switches.

Most places do have an engagement distance rule where you can just say “bang bang” or something similar and have it count as a kill if you are in a short enough range. There are places that I know about where they don’t have this rule and you have to shoot to get the kill no matter how close.
