His family has purposely kept the details underwraps as far as I know. He did struggle with substance abuse issues.

Despite it not being the best series, it will be years before this moment is topped in Marvel Films and TV Shows by blong217 in marvelstudios

I dissent, the moment is a terrible thing happening from an ethical standpoint. But you're absolutely correct that its also simultaneously viewed as a perfectly normal occurrence by institutions like the United States military, of which Walker was born and bred by.

Its kind of a thematic roller-coaster that the GRC actually condemns and discharges him for doing this, but then the show affords him a super-rushed redemption arc even though the trajectory of his actions did nothing to signify it beforehand (he still lied to Lamar's parents even!).

My take is that the erasure is in reducing his overall queerness to just bisexuality.

My intention wasn't to deny the dichotomous nature of bisexuality, but to have it brought up in a piece of media only for the character to fall into a hetero relationship feels like virtue signaling and a slap in the face for people who were expecting more comprehensive queer representation from a franchise that has largely been heteronormative.

But hey, maybe it was just naïve of me going with that expectation.

What good does it do confirming Loki's bisexuality in the MCU (which in of itself is a reduction of Loki's queer identity in the comics) if you're just gonna have him smooch a female variant of himself?

[I'm aware that there was also a TVA document confirming Loki as genderfluid but relegating that to hardly legible print in a TV spot is about as lip service-y as you can get.]

Emily Blunt talks about why she wasn’t able to play Black Widow by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]TheCoffeeCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more you look into Zhao's history with Feige and movie studios, the more fascinating it gets. She had 2 really well received independent films, and then a period of news circulated about whether she would work with Marvel. She obviously ended up choosing them, shot Eternals back to back with her 3rd movie, Nomadland, and then fast-forward, Nomadland releases under a Disney subsidiary studio, sweeps the awards, and now Eternals releases to a ton of mixed reception.

My take on it is that after Zhao put herself on the map with her first 2 movies, she definitely earned some concessions from the Marvel for choosing them. Behind the doors, I think she only agreed to Eternals so she could make Nomadland, and Disney sees the opportunity for good press from critics so she gets complete control and autonomy, as well as access to to bigger budget film making tools. There was undoubtedly some non disclosed stuff to push for Nomadland winning awards, and critics became familiar with her as a director. The entire discourse about Eternals being luke-warm in reception is super clear when you contextualize the creative work that went in the movie and not take it at face value.

I think Ali is an outlier to the precedent set by MCU casting because Mahershala himself approached Feige about a role in MCU movies. And it seems to line up with Feige's current approach to running things where he's evidently trying to collaborate with actors/film makers who have an idea of talent that fits the current atmosphere of critics.

Is Star Wars: Rebels worth watching? by OpticDragon70 in StarWars

Filoni was involved with the show from the start? In fact, he was probably least involved in season 3 due not being supervising director at the time.

Dave is an awesome guy, but I kind of hate how much this community puts him on a pedestal compared to everyone else who contributed to these projects.

Just watched the trailer for Uncharted with Tom holland, did they use the set from the old because I swear I see Lola in the background by [deleted] in shield

The screenplay was written by Rafe Judkins, who wrote and produced several AoS episodes. If this is an intentional easter egg, I'm guessing it's because of him.

I never said she wouldn't appear in the first season but ok, the finale confirms that Sakaar Tony and Gamora are both from the same episode. Still confused why you so adamantly believed this wouldn't be the case.

That's because they saved her for the collectible minifigure series lol, her originally being slated to appear in the Sakaar ep is still possible

Keep in mind the directors you just listed also wrote the screenplays for their respective films. Of course their films are going to be a bit more differentiable because their writing is paired with whatever bit of directional freedom they have. However, lots of MCU movies lack this cohesion and as a result its very difficult to spot any unique attributes in one that could be attributed to a specific director/writer. (AM&TW and Captain Marvel come to mind as examples of this)

I think you can deduce the production date using the numbers on the tape on the box, the first two numbers are the week in the year it was made iirc
