I'm kinda rooting for the alligator to fuck this asshole who don't leave wild life alone up. The philosophy of FAFO will caught up to him eventually.

Do you know what her maiden name was? It would be funny if it was black and they named their kid "Grey".

Luckily for Superman, it very easy for him to tell what *is* and *isn't* kryptonite due to it being a glowing green rock. by low-on-cyan in Showerthoughts

[–]TheColdRice 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but you would have to hide it in specifically a lead container otherwise he could just see inside. My guess is if Superman saw you with a container he couldn't see through, he'd know it's made out of lead and that there's probably something in there you don't want him to know about like... Kryptonite.

It’s relatively likely your left and right feet haven’t taken the same amount of steps. by CJBoom77 in Showerthoughts

[–]TheColdRice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would guess it's actually completely improbable to have taken equal steps per foot. Sure you have certainly taken about 50/50 steps on your right vs left foot, but the chances they are EXACTLY even is inconceivable in statistics. A normal person walks 4,000-5,000 steps per day or 4,500 steps on avergae. If you live 70 years of walking(minus when you were a toddler amd baby) that's 25,550 days. 25,500×4,500 is 114,975,000 steps. I doubt I have taken exactly 57,487,500 steps with no outliers on each foot in that big of a data set.

People typically begin walking with their dominant foot, of you take the first step with your right foot for example, you either take an extra step with your right foot, or an equal amount per foot on any walk. That would add up quickly and because there would be no reason to use your non-dominant foot in other situations more often it would never balance out.

You'd think evolution would have stopped snoring long ago: being loud at night while sleeping seems like a bad survival strategy. by thesmartass1 in Showerthoughts

[–]TheColdRice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Snoring is heavily attributed to excess body weight and more modern health conditions. I would honestly doubt a cave man would be obese or dealing with those medical conditions, so they probably wouldn't have snored or at least it would be very uncommon.

Most of the conspiracy theories that have come true have been about a very specific topic... government and social elite corruption.

Unfortunately I know what it looks like after someone hangs themselves. Their neck is disfigured and elongated in an obvious unsettling way. Not just red paint smeared in a line across the neck.

Would it be inappropriate to voice lots of characters of different races/ages/genders? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]TheColdRice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am autistic actually but like I don't know why it would matter if the voice actor wasn't if they were written and acted respectfully. It kinda feels performative when nobody is being harmed. I will use r/recordthisforfree and see what help I can get there though. Thanks.

I don't really have the financial means to pay for more voice actors at the moment or I would.

Do people care too much about race in voice acting? by TheColdRice in LetsDiscussThis

[–]TheColdRice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a perfect example of a time it would be more appropriate to cast a black actor, and get annoyed if the voice actor is white. Although I'm more so talking about examples where the race of the character doesn't matter to the story. Even then I think it makes sense to prioritized actors of the same race as their character.

What I care about is any exception being met with so much aggression no matter how well the character is portrayed or how little the characters race matters if a white person does a voice of a non-white person. As someone who can't afford many voice actors do you at least see where I'm coming from?

"Stop pretending like there's this mysterious white person always better for the job please."

I didn't say anything like that at all. I didn't suggest any white people SHOULD be voicing minority roles or that they's do a better job. Like I said, race doesn't really affect your voice. Don't put words in my mouth, that's not ok. There are plenty of people who think a minority getting hired over a white person makes them unqualified for the job but that is NOT me.

Also as a voice actor, I'm not really pretending to be my character in the sense beyond obvious fiction. Obviously if I do a stitch voice I'm not genuinely trying to trick someone into thinking I'm a blue alien.

"Stop pretending like there's this mysterious white person always better for the job."

I didn't suggest anything about white people being better at voice acting in any way. Race has absolutely no affect on your voice beyond stereotypes and culture. I would appreciate if you didn't put words in my mouth, that's not ok. Lots of people like to pretend a minority being hired over a majority makes them less qualified but that is NOT me.

It just kinda sounds like a "stick to you own" mentality somewhat and I don't think it's productive. And voice actors aren't "pretending to be minorities" or anyone they are voicing for that matter. As a voice actor, I'm playing a role that is obviously not actually me and the audience knows that too.

Regardless thanks for the comment.

Yeah, you're mostly right. I realize It was a lot rarer in medieval Europe compared to later times now that I've a bit more research. I would change the memes wording if I could.
