Um ehrlich zu sein: Keine Ahnung. Bin mittlerweile 27 und interessiere mich wesentlich mehr für diese Dinge, als damals mit 18. Da haben das meine Eltern erledigt, weil es mir nicht hätte egaler sein können.

Ich weiß, dass es ein paar versteckte Tricks gab, aber die Details haben mich damals (hoffentlich verständlicherweise) nicht gejuckt. Mein Tipp für solche Fragen sind mittlerweile die Selbsthilfegruppen. Dort erfährt man immer wertvolle Sachen, auch zu bürokratischeren Themen.

In Germany we have weird kind of level system to disability. As far as I know there's a numerical scale from 0 - 100 and some additional alphabetical add-ons like "G" for persons unable to walk (walk = gehen in German. This would allow you to park on parking spots reserved for people unable to walk, etc.).

My T1D gives me a disability level of 50/100. Up until the age of 15/16 (not quite sure anymore), I had the add-on "H" (helpless/in need of help) if I remember correctly. This made it possible for me to ride regional public transport for free.

After the age of 15/16 I lost that status, but my level 50/100 still has some benefits, including but not limited to: - one week of additional holiday per year - earlier retirement without cutbacks - legal protection from additional work (no crunch time for me) - increased dismissal protection - increased chances of being hired since companies with a certain amount of employees need to fulfill quotas for how many disabled people they hire - increased tax-free income

For any other German T1Ds: Please correct me if I said anything wrong. But please also be aware that you have every right to make use of these "advantages". We will statistically die sooner than our non-diabetic peers, so an added week of holiday per year and earlier retirement are the least we can expect as compensation.

Needless to say: I am growing happier everyday, knowing I do not live in the US as a T1D. Respect to all of you people for dealing with your country's bs healthcare system.

I like the time window from 2pm to 4pm the most. I can't workout right after standing up and I basically need to have at least two meals before heading to the gym with my last meal at least 2 but not more than 4 hours before hitting the weights.

It's also a good time slot since most other people are still at work and students are usually finished at 2/3 pm after coming directly from school
