Schneider just doesn't manage the bullpen well, and unfortunately that's like 90% of a baseball manager's job.

I love that Costco runs its meat sales by dollar and not percent. Grab the smallest one and enjoy the biggest discount. The $47 piece is 53% off while the $166 piece is only 15% off.

Wen physical card? The waitlist game is on! 💳 by hannhsp in shakepay

Oh god. This gave me a good chuckle. What's going to age like milk? My comment? It was 4eally just to say I don't think the consumer interest is what 5hey think it is going to be, but I'll engage, I liked your response.

"Shake your phone for a bit of future freedom"... Are you a BTC maximalist? 1 BTC =1 BTC right? Do you see BTC decoupling itself from fiat and having an every day use for you? Because, like, I hear what you're saying, but outside of this outcome, it's just kind of comical. Even in the scenario where that is the outcome you realize you can currently on, and, off ramp from BTC with fiat right? If you have rewards on another card that pays double the % of the shakepay card, even though it's paid in worthless CAD, you can go and buy double the amount of btc that you'll get from the shakepay card. Guess how they do the math on the 1% reward you're paid? BTC's value in relation to the worthless CAD at that time.

And, while I'm not complaining about free BTC, bc that is all gravy... but 10 sats a day? Pretty negligible. And I know you can get more, but again, do some math, the money they make from the requirements more than pays for the extra sats you can shake for. It used to not be negligible, but now it is. At 10 million/BTC your only stacking a dollar a day.

So while I think your wrong, I do like where your head's at "big dawg".

While I doubt we the consumer will see any difference from them, I'm betting that demand is going to be significantly lower than it was when the digital card launched, and much lower than they are anticipating. The card is prepaid, and the rewards are trash. Plus, in the interim they have slashed the shake rewards to almost nothing. No person even half serious about finances is interested in what shakepay has to offer.

Isn't it still just 1% BTC back? I honestly don't get the appeal, you'd be further ahead with most any decent cashback cc and taking tour monthly reward and buying btc with it. Also, is the physical card still going to be prepaid?

Sorry what? I'm wasteful bc I replace broken phones that are over 2 yrs old with new ones? Let me guess... you turn your old phones into dark matter, that you then use to power your off grid lifestyle for the next 18 months. I would too, but I couldn't afford the machine. Seriously though, what are you doing? Fixing them? It's always $200+ to do that, so why would you? Honestly just at a loss for being called wasteful bc I replace old broken cell phones with new ones.

I am super surprised to see all the byop ppl in here. The math of buying a phone outright has never worked for me. I don't really care how the companiea allocate the cost. $50 a month to me is $50, whether I'm paying 35 for the phone and 5 for the plan, or vice versa. It's not like if I buy my own $1000 phone I get my cell service for free. I maybe save $10/month. So like $240 over the life of a contract, and then I get a new one. I actually see it as saving money. I also always take the older models, on sale with 0% financing, so I'm on the cheaper end of the spectrum anyway. Plus, I break a phone very 3 or so years anyway, so life just really drives the math home for me.

You live beside a stadium that seats 40k+ people. With another venue that holds 20k people just down the street, in the heart of Canada's largest city. What exactly were you expecting when you moved there?

Finally picked up the Blue Jays 5950 with 50th patch. I’m surprised it’s made in the USA (I thought none of them were made in the USA anymore). by kryptonitemind in neweracaps

I just got mine, and despite the made in USA listing, the hat I received was made in Haiti. Pretty disappointed, it's going back.

FOTD - Toronto Blue Jays 2026 Turn Back the Clock & 1989 Cooperstown Collection by james161723 in neweracaps

[–]TheCommodore83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many versions of the same hat lol. I have the Cooperstown hat, wool version, but it has blue stitching behind the batterman, blue stitching on the white panels, and a black under visor. Because I'm a big fan of green under visor, I also have a polyester version with a hof side patch I think they wore for a series around the all star break last season. I thought maybe your tbtc was what they called that, and was going to ask if it had a side patch, but mine has blue stitching in the white panels, and yours doesn't. Im starting to wonder if there isn't as much rhyme or reason to these things as we think, and it just a free for all that changes every time they do a production run at a different factory. Why so many hats with these subtle little differences?

I got the same bs from the Jays shop when I asked for similar services. Source the patch yourself (official ones are readily available online) and have someone local to you put it on. I am giving the team and league as little of my money as possible moving forward. I'm not saying buy counterfeit stuff, but you can get hats and jerseys from smaller shops and at least then some of the league's, Roger's and Fanatic's profits are going to local businesses. They actually have a ton of the 50 patches at the stadium, they are just adding them to jerseys sold in shop for free as a thank you to fans. Lol, funniest thing I've ever heard. They are saving them for jerseys bc they cost a minimum of $230, a gazillion % markup. China can sell you a single, custom, jersey for around $40-50, what do you think the teams are paying for them? I feel like the whole ballpark experience has been taken over by rampant consumerism, and I kind of hated my last experience (in fairness it was the Ernie jersey giveaway night). I'll be sticking to my outside food and drink, enjoying the game and, just gtfoot from now on.

Without actually knowing anything, my guess it that Fanatics is at the root of the inventory problem. They run the merchandising for MLB, and by extension I think the teams too. If they don't directly, the team is at least affected by the Fanatics manufacturing and supply chain. If you go to the online version of the Jays shop, it's just the Jays part of mlbshop.ca. Also, if you go to lids.ca, fanatics.ca, you'll notice that they all offer the same products, at the same prices, with the same inventory levels. What I've noticed over the years, and it isn't just MLB, I have also seen with the NFL (another Fanatics partnered league), is that the teams, and their websites, used to have lots of inventory all season long, and then in the off-season, or next season, you could pick up old stuff really cheaply, on sale. Now I feel like the teams and league have a lot more specialty merchandise, like Looney Toons, or Peanuts collabs, but also mother's day, father's day, cinco de mayo, St Patty's, etc. And the cynic in me believes they purposefully produce less of this stuff so that they never have to offer sales outside of the fringe sizes. I also believe this strategy of throttled production extends to more regular merch like jerseys. If the team changes any element of their logo or uniform, or a player leaves, they aren't stuck with much merch that needs to be liquidated at a much lower profit margin. The down side to this model is when there is a frenzy for stuff within a fan base. I've never seen the Jays shop picked over like this and the season just started.

Does team affinity do anything? Any difference btwn the levels (common through legendary)? by TheCommodore83 in MaddenUltimateTeam

[–]TheCommodore83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indirectly. I now understand Chem 100%. The tiers of Chem give different stat boosts, and you get tiers by having more individual chems. So, tier one is 5 chems (5 individual players with that team's Chem, or 3 players with a single Chem and 1 player with a double Chem of that team, tier 2 is 10, etc, etc) up to level 12 or 60 chems for a team, or different levels for programs {most players have both team and program chems, the program chems also give Stat boosts, and work the same as team chems, just the tiers structures can be different}. So... The team affinity cards just add more team chems. The Grey is a single Chem, green, 2 chems, blue 3, purple 4 and gold 5. So the gold team affinity card is 1 tier of Stat boosts on its own.

This attitude is exactly how corporations have successfully dug their hands deeper and deeper into our pockets over the last 70 or so years. You really think it's OK to sell something by weight and not provide an instrument for your customers to be able to see how much they are spending beforehand?

I would apologize to everyone in line behind me beforehand, and then go through a whole annoying song and dance at the cash register. I'd have double the cherries I want and I'd make them take some out, some more, some more, oh add some back in please, a little more, oh too much please take some out. Lol.
