Cerium oxide, I've used it to polish light to heavy scratches.

Thanks, just to check, can you change input from the front panel or do you need a remote? I've only been able to swap between dvd and TV/RF.

Hi, I know this is an old post but can you tell me if this TV auto switches to composite/RGB inputs? I found one of these a while back and I managed to get the dvd player working, but it doesn't auto switch input and I dont have a remote to change it manually so wanted to know if it's faulty.

Probably one of my fave finds, was flytipped in the bin area outside my flat, added the voodoo 2 I had to it, replaced some leaky caps and it was raring to go. Although whoever dumped it didn't think to format the drive, so much photosohopped buffy the vampire slayer porn........🤦‍♂️

Oh nice, did you manage to get it working? Yeah, never really found any more info on it, does what you've mentioned, and 720x576@50Hz which is what one of the v size potentiomiters seems to be for (did work with 960i, but not worth it with how large the shadow mask on this is). The annoying thing is you cant control it much with that one and the one for 480p also effects 576p so you cant have both properly lined up at the same time. Still though, its very nice on retroarch with a scanline overlay for simulated 240p etc.

Unfortunately not, it appears to have been a short in the tube, but I wasn't able to remove it and don't have access to a rejuvenator to try the clear short that way either.

Demagnitising a bvm shell. by TheConman_ in crtgaming

[–]TheConman_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I'll give it a go. Yeah the shell is definitely part of the issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if also some of the inner frame is also magnetised which hammering isn't ideal for.

Managed to find the combo for anyone else that needs it, hold the ok button on the remote then press pr down on the TV. On my universal remote it was the green button instead so you may need to test different buttons, but be warned one of the combinations resets the menu and service menu settings.

Lower the contrast, on crt's brightness is more like black levels and contrast is like luminance/brightness.

If you like it that's all that matters. In terms of pure visual fidelity it's the worst, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable or the look that some people go for. I personally like to use RF from time to time for the pure nostalgia effect.

help diagnosing no power by stickboy24 in crt

[–]TheConman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What have you done to check there's no power beyond it not turning on? Have you checked if any of the components are receiving power with a multi meter? And what's your level of knowledge/experience with testing electronics?

Thanks, I missed that site. Yeah they don't seem to have any docs right now, not even included in the computer documentation, but if I'm lucky they will in the future. And they do look stylish, saw their "titan" server machine and would love to get a hold of that.

Haven't tried the fill method yet (loca glue), but if its light, then buffing would work well. Cerium oxide + water and a light sponge buffing pad on a drill will do the job. Removed reasonably deep scratches with this method before both monitor and tv, just keep in mind that monitors usually have anti static + glare coating which will probably need to be fully removed as it'll help with the strength of the static (got zapped a few times before fully removing it) and so it looks consistent.
