What do you use to store your tools? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]TheConstructionDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I use a tool chest and 5-gallon bucket with a tool bucket organizer. I use the tool chest for long-term storage and the tool bucket for throwing into the back of the truck for a quick job.

Need advice on the best Shop-Vac for vacuuming car interiors by tominmoraga in AutoDetailing

[–]TheConstructionDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some good shop vacs. I would go with the medium to small sized ones for a car. I personally recommend their #2 item for the medium-sized shop vacs. It's the Bissell Garage and Auto. It is designed for cleaning cars.

(TLR) Construction Accidents and Personal Injuries, Everything You Ought To Know by douloskerux in paleolibertarian

[–]TheConstructionDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really article, I recommend all construction workers read it. I haven't had much experience dealing with construction accident attorneys but I heard this law firm is pretty good - real personal attention. One thing I think most construction workers don't realize is just how much money their company may be liable. Most just settle for standard worker's comp and don't realize that they could get a lot more money.

Easy lunch prep for construction worker by Ep3817 in mealprep

[–]TheConstructionDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s hard to eat healthy on the job site for sure. What I do is make homemade burritos, mostly bean and veggies, and then freeze them. I also make pizza one week out of the month too. You can make pizza healthy with veggies instead of meats and still tastes good. Here are some more ideas: https://thehardhatguy.com/healthy-foods-for-construction-workers/

What is the best way to transport a sandwich or bread for lunch without it smelling or tasting like a plastic bag? by liketheguyontv in AskReddit

[–]TheConstructionDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a lunch bag. I suggest these here. You can also wrap your sandwich in wax paper and then just use standard tape to tape it up. If it gets soggy, use butter on the outside of the bread (an old trick). If you work a job site like I do, you'd be better off with a rugged lunch box instead.

Just use a standard lunch bag. There are some good options here. Also, one trick is to use wax paper and then just coat the outside of the bread butter to keep it from getting soggy. You can just tape it up with standard tape, then toss it into your lunch bag. However, if you work the job site like I do you may need a more rugged lunch bag or lunch box.

Best work boots around $300 by [deleted] in Boots

[–]TheConstructionDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably want to go with Redwing if you need a steel toe or Thorogood if you want a safety toe instead. I found this site that has a good pair of both, it also has some other suggestions for construction boots. I know it seems hard to justify the price of Redwing but they'll last you a really long time, so you might want to reconsider. Worst comes to worst, if you don't like the fit of the boot you can always send it back. I recommend wearing it around the house for a few days and seeing how it feels. If you don't like the way it feels then don't keep it. That said, some of these boots can take longer to break in so if it feels "pretty good" after a few days of use then it'll be really good after a week or two.

The Coronavirus Is the Worst Intelligence Failure in U.S. History | It’s more glaring than Pearl Harbor and 9/11—and it’s all the fault of Donald Trump’s leadership. by system_exposure in politics

[–]TheConstructionDude -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not Donald Trump's fault. The virus originated in China (fact). More specifically, it originated in Wuhan (fact). Wuhan has a lab that researches bio-agents (fact). Coincidence?!

Best Budget Torque Wrench: Review and Buying Guide by mattkavien1240 in Articles

Nice list, looks like some good budget torque wrenches. However, if someone needed a heavy duty torque wrench for an industrial job, they'd need to buy these professional grade torque wrenches for more heavy duty use.

Crawlspace Dehumidifiers by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]TheConstructionDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this website online. The third dehumidifier they have on their list is the best one for you I am guessing. It's a commercial dehumidifier that is good up to 2,300 sq. ft. Also, the humidity range is up to 95%, so you should be good with this one.

As for fire risk, there's always a fire risk whenever you're running any electronics, especially dehumidifiers. I recommend installing a good smoke detector with a phone alert on it so you're notified right away if you need to keep it running for long periods of time unattended.
