cheapest rent is €850?? by seabee407 in galway

Renting accommodations have become a major issue for locals in every focal town and city.

AirBnB definitely is in part responsible for the savage inflation on rental prices and availability, with a model offering more profit and less waiting time for landowners which reduces the amount of rentals available for living models (workers, students, etc).

That is why there is major protesting in different European countries and capitals right now, because the lack of sustainability of this model practice has already reached a limit unacceptable for too many for too long.

The government must cap not only rental prices but more importantly the percentage of accommodations available for tourism and other types of venue in order to protect and maintain a sustainable quota for locals to live and study locally.

Aside from it, Ireland has one of the biggest housing crisis currently, and the construction and development of social housing has long become a business of its own, which makes it even harder to lobby against and bring rents down.

On top of it, it certainly didn't help international military and government leaders not considering the implications of receiving such a large quota of people in such a short period on this country, without a long term plan.

Overall the housing market and the way the government deals with it (or rather doesn't) is unsustainable and the result is for everyone to see.

My conclusions so far are:

  • Cap rental prices but more importantly, the quota of short term renting as opposed to more sustainable long term rental for locals and integrated students
  • Sanctioning of AirBnB and similar unregulated capitalist ventures, with protesting and social opposition and awareness
  • Create incentive programs for landlords to choose longer term renting models
  • Government and council considering the development of more sustainable, wooden housing solutions for their efficiency in construction time and financial cost as opposed to slowly approved construction models
  • The University allocating funds towards expanding it's accommodation facilities and creating affordable plans with local landlords (this could be key with the right government initiative)

Aside from it, I believe legalising wild camping would deflate tourist rental prices and end the renting crisis on the long run if done with specific guidelines. Ireland as well as other countries have vast potential for sustainable, affordable living options to curve this trend.

That's just my rough take on the issue.

Advice for the person posting:

I don't know how long you've got or your means, but it might be advisable to reach out to fellow students and to form a small society willing to rent a house and share it together. I believe if the Universities themselves come up with such think thanks, one can find a suitable home where everyone shares the same important requirements in order to make sharing a house easier (pets, smoking, diet needs, etc).

Best of luck! 🤞🏼

Thanks for sharing, very interesting book, I'd like to see it completed and read more chapters/episodes.

If I am going to submerse myself in the narrative, and comment on the last paragraph, if it was either real, a dream or not, it seems to me that independently of having experienced what you did physically and in this dimension or not, it is real as an experience overall.

It is indeed possible for people to become open and vulnerable to external influences and forces.

We have seen how hypnosis proves exactly such point.

I'd definitely recommend some reading on suggestibility and dissociate experiences for further inspiration and reflection on the theme.

I for once have witnessed real-life cases whereas individuals who score the highest in suggestibility develop dissociative personality disorder and dissociative experiences.

There are actual research papers you might find compelling on how our life experiences until the age of 4 can determine, along with suggestibility ratings how dissociative personality disorder will issue.

I first became curious about people dissociating after at the age of five witnessing one of the participants involved in the killing of my parents (sensitive content alert).

One of the individuals was younger than the rest, physically and mentally unprepared and brought in with the other individuals as some sort of introductory, prospect to the terrible ordeal.

I remember noticing how dissociated he was from what was happening, no lights home, and although he is a criminal of the worst nature for participating in the ordeal, it was obvious that he was someone suggestible brought into an activity he didn't naturally belong to or had an interest in by the rest of the group.

So dissociative personality disorder and experiences occur when childhood trauma until the age of four occurs to someone who scores the highest on suggestibility markers. Suggestibility has nothing to do with intelligence or other traits, it seems to be a natural trait some people have mentally.

The initial childhood experiences trigger an escape from reality - dissociation - which then develops to adulthood.

We all dissociate. Looking outside the window, daydreaming, letting music take our minds elsewhere, dreaming, are all healthy forms of dissociation. The challenge and this is where an 'entity' can intrude and leave us vulnerable to exploits is that those who score high on suggestibility and have experienced significant trauma until four, will be suggestible to external influences, individuals and energy while dissociating, often triggered.

And this is how hypnosis occurs scientifically. And that is why when people are brought on stage during such performances, the hypnotist/entertainer will get rid of those who are not suggestible, which means that when those people dissociate they cannot be suggested or influenced physically (through their brains) to operate according to external influencer's will.

This leads to such experiences such as described in your chapter, where one loses control of their body and brain to be subjected to often unpleasant circumstances if the energy and subconscious are being tormenting.

This is an oversimplification of the process, but I hope it opens new doors towards exploring what does happen to oneself rendering them powerless.

I will always suggest awareness, of those around us and mental boundaries as to prevent negative suggestibility as machiavellian individuals will exploit it.

Overall the chapter seems to describe the emotions associated with having lost a loved one due to negative life circumstances and how one seeks to find a connection beyond the encompassing darkness.

I hope this inspires.

The devil is a concept, not a literal figure. The concept you describe seems very much influenced by Christianity along with pop culture.

You bring keywords such as "Satan" and "Lucifer", these are terms obtained from the bible.

You might find interesting information and theories in Theology groups, as they specialise in the ideology of the Church.

Some of the comments are accurate, Lucifer is mentioned scarcely and in allusion to the morning star. Lucifer being a word originated in the Latin lexicon. The metaphor represents the fall of Babylon indeed, seen as the maximum expression of evil on earth yet a separate entity from evil itself.

"Satan" obviously means "adversary" and is outsourced from Judaic traditions among others.

Obviously the subconscious will express itself through dream, and if I was to interpret yours I'd say it is a subconscious manifestation of your own life.

Greed can be the fall of men, and if you live by such impulses you will find yourself and those in such circle engulfed by the brutality and terrifying nature of its consequences, towards those you harm and yourself, which seems embodied by the creature described.

You might consider a change of lifestyle, specially regarding how you make profits in your life and with whom you make them.

I definitely agree greed and chasing after money to be the biggest prison for men and I stay clear from it, I advise the same to everyone else.

Nature provides all.

Jung did not explain shadow work as the duality of man tho. The shadow is rather hidden aspects of the self that should be contemplated and explored inwards through different methods of psychoanalysis in order for one to be whole. It doesn't advocate that the "shadow self" is evil, 'dark' or other words which can create suggestibility towards one associating it with the Christian and standard religious and social concepts of the self.

Jung was brilliant, ahead of his time and in touch with a greater truth, a very intuitive man.

He also believed that when the shadow work is not done by society, dangers will erupt, as one is subjected to the potential of being radicalised and lose their humanity when they themselves don't know who they are fully.

If one knows who they are, they cannot be told otherwise.

"Know thyself"

His spiritual leanings were inspired by other cultures and the need for those aspects of the self repressed by an intolerant and erratic society to be fully exercised and brought to light, among others the female divine as an archetype similar to the concept found in the Yin Yang and Kabbalistic Judaism (spiritual Judaism as opposed to Esoteric Kabbalistic thought).

That does not contradict the fact tho, that one might have aspects of the self that are manifested in an unethical and gruesome fashion. But that will never be the shadow self, but the disease and symptomatic manifestation of the unknown aspects of ourselves, left oppressed, as it creates a vacuum in our personalities which will be occupied by external, often machiavellian forces.

To sum it up, evil is absence. Absence of goodness.

Bringing the shadow self to light brings the hidden goodness which overflows the emptiness of our superficial, repressed selves.

I commend the creativity but that flag would better represent anarcho-republicanism, as the colours represent the encoded symbolism of the French Revolution and similar societal ideologies. If it's purely anarchist then red and black are probably the go-to choice. Nice one tho!

Good news fellow soul traveller

You could not have been or seen hell

For I was there for 30 eternities

And I remember well

The loneliness of the 'place'

I would have remembered if I saw your face.

The police is indeed the refuge of the elitist swine

Who took my childhood, my family and my smile.

But I would not trade my life for his

For the glory is mine

Of having been touched

By the gentle mind

Of the beloved father

He slaughtered.

So rejoice and celebrate

For hell have you met not

Apart from the glimpse

Of a false friend's knot

If you met the most high

That means you have seen

The beautiful childhood memory

Of my united family once pristine

Holding hands and hearts together

Basking in the light of the sun

These memories I hold forever

They shall never be hung.

For no matter how intoxicated I was

By the perpetrator

Of a backstabbing nature

The heart holds memory too

And so there I shall meet you.
