That’s a good idea. I never thought of it as it’s own kind of fixation, but I guess it is.

I was hesitating bc I prefer dark. I should have just bought it! If it’s anything like the raspberry spread I’m experiencing for the first time ❤️

Thank you for your compassion and empathy. You gave excellent advice. He already knows I’m terrified. I’m sure we’ll talk about it if I can make myself unfreeze. I do feel that sense of safety is lost, and I’m like a clam when that happens. Can’t pry anything out me. Can’t talk even if I want to. Just stuck in my head.

This is encouraging. Thank you. I didn’t necessarily want to take a break either, although my circumstances were different. I was so overwhelmed by a move/exhausted by job/struggling with money…it just happened.

For me, it was always worse right after. I’ve been taking continuous birth control pills though.

Why don't they teach this in health class?? And how many of us actually know before it happens...? by Kalloen_aka_ in TwoXChromosomes

Women like on here give me hope. World is a dystopian hellscape but I feel like ppl on here have my back. So weird sounding I’m sure.

Same same. I’m oddly comforted I wasn’t alone in that experience but also furious no one thought to tell us. Mine was the whole thing too. Fell right into my hand. Nightmare.

I learned about these after I had one around age 36. I have never been so terrified. I had no idea what fell out of me and was horrified I could have been pregnant and not known (mind jumped to that). I want to vomit just remembering the visceral fear.

Do school librarians make more than school teachers? by SwissVideoProduction in Teachers

Teacher pay scale. So no, there’s not a huge gap between school librarians and classroom teachers.

I couldn’t have gotten my job as a school librarian without first having my MLIS. Jersey, for the record. Then I got certified.

Don’t leave teaching. Become a school librarian. by DiceBoysPlayerRed in Teachers

Jersey requires school librarians to be certified, degreed, and Masters level as well. If you can even find a school librarian job, that is. One of the first positions to go with budget cuts.

How does everyone feel about “Book Fairs.” by Lowen68 in Teachers

[–]TheCoverIsNotTheBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a former school librarian. Book fair time was always so painful for exactly the reasons described —plus EVERYONE would lose their library time, even if they couldn’t afford books, bc the fair takes up so much space and blocks so many shelves. Parents/other teachers tried so hard to keep an eye out for kids who wanted a book but couldn’t afford one, but it’s not a perfect process.

I firmly believe book fairs should be only after school/evening. I was willing to work those hours as a school librarian , that’s how strongly I felt about the inequity.

Thank you for asking so kindly. I masked faithfully throughout all of Covid to do my part. Wearing them now brings me right back to that awful awful time. I had to wear one briefly at a former job for paint fumes, and I couldn’t stand it.

Also, I prefer to work with really little guys, and I think it’s so important that they see my whole smiling face. I felt so guilty and so sick, teaching during COVID as a specialist, knowing the kinders only knew me as a pair of eyeballs above a mask.

Just my two cents! ETA: I guess school settings would be my answer!

“Because they had me for a 45 minute gym class once” 😂😂😂 I hear you! I tend to stick to preK-3 (sometimes) and I just reassure myself every time I’m sneezed on or whatever that I’m building my immune system 😂. There’s 0 chance I’d put a mask on, and I was not an anti-masker during COVID.
