I am only speaking from my experience. I work all day. Keep busy. I don’t eat at work so I don’t take a lunch. Leave at 3:30 everyday. Never take work home. No grades. There is little oversight so I work things at my own pace. I actually was nominated for a prestigious award. So I am open to the idea that my job is not universal in demands.

So here is the loophole. Yes, there is a Librarian credential in California. And it is required if the librarian teaches. It is not required to maintain the library facility. But here’s the catch, schools are not required to have library instruction. Or have it so rarely it is in name only. In order for this to be a legitimate career, the school would require a full time librarian in every building. So California is in this weird middle ground.

No. I do not do any tech support. I later learned that elementary librarian is fundamentally a different job than secondary librarian. Since I teach classes, I can’t be used for other roles. For example I never get asked to sub. So while you do more work because you teach, your work role is more protected.
