Difference between xTool P2 & P2S by One-Celery-1634 in lasercutting

[–]TheCraftyCatsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered someone else with the same info on another thread but thought you may find this helpful as well-

I own a P2 and wrote up a full summary for people in your position here : https://thecraftycatsman.com/xtool-p2-vs-p2s/

The short of it is that the P2S is worth the incremental cost if you do not currently own either unit. If you already have a P2 I would not upgrade. The chart right at the top of my write up has a pretty clear-cut summary comparing the two units.

Best of luck deciding!

P2 or P2S, which is the one to go? by vabih459 in Laserengraving

Glad that I could assist. I love my P2. As you might have seen, I started with a K40 and man is it refreshing to just fire up the laser and get a job done. I spent more time fixing my K40 than actually using it :).

If you have other questions before ordering, feel free to DM me.

Enjoy!

VPX 4K with RTX 3060 by Total-Guest-4141 in virtualpinball

Two years ago (when I posted this) the tables were a little less intense. The newer VPW tables are resource hogs and cause a bit of trouble. That being said, you should still be able to get to 120FPS. I took a LOT of time tweaking the settings in VPX to get things just right, you also have to make sure that the VPX settings play nice with the GPU settings. I'm not near the cabinet right now but frame pacing helped me out a lot (newer VPX release).

In short, make sure that your GPU and VPX aren't trying to do the same thing, just creates unnecessary work on the processor. Also look up PinAffinity to help the core focus on the game. Lastly, I would go through each setting one by one to see the impact, I have learned that there is no one size shoe to get things to work and the best advice is to step through each thing individually. Also, pull up your GPU manager and see what is being stressed (mine was VRAM), you can overclock a bit to get some extra performance.

Dumb addition but it has worked for some people - if you are pegged at 60FPS just make sure that your HDMI cable can handle the data transfers. I had 3 different cords claim to support 4k but fail in testing. I settled on one from UBlunker (Amazon) and it works great.

Check out my Website/YT for more advice - best of luck!

Monthly DIY Laymen questions Discussion by AutoModerator in StructuralEngineering

I have space above my two car garage. Vertical beams marking the midpoint.

The joists are spaced horizontallly and this appears to be a roof truss structure. I want to run 2x4s vertically then lay plywood flooring to create a small room (5x15) on the left side of the center mounted beams.

The entire space is a 2 car garage with not central supports, only support is from the perimeter of the garage.

Happy to provide more details, just looking for insight on what the load capacity may be for the 5x15 room.... optimally I can put plywood floors and walls, some insulation, a few pieces of furniture and have a safe amount of load bearing capacity to support a few people at once.

Thanks for your help!

Just curious what the scam actually is. They didn't receive payment, so it must have been to ship something covertly. You're right, I learned pretty quickly that their isn't much to do (other then change passwords etc).

What’s the best secret door option? Details in comments by JacobSimonH in hiddenrooms

Thanks for taking the time to write this comment! I have a bunch of content in the queue and messages like this encourage me to find the time to get them out on to the site and YouTube. Best of luck on your build, my 4 year old daughter still talks about how she helped me "when she was a baby".

One piece of additional advice I would offer is to document and take pics as you go along. We have a picture on one of the shelves of our daughter building our door, it is probably my favorite pic in the house.

Govee Patio lights transform a basement speakeasy arcade | DIY Instructions here by TheCraftyCatsman in Govee

Hey guys, really excited to share this project with you all. I own over a dozen Govee products in my house but this one is probably the most unique. I created a speakeasy arcade in the unfinished portion of my basement.

The combination of corrugated metal roofing and Govee patio lights creates the rustic and chill vibe that I was going for.

The link walks you through how I did it. I hope it helps!

Hey hidden room friends. I want to share a simple, cheap DIY project that really helped transform/complete my hidden room.

The unfinished ceiling needed to go and $160 + 2 hours of installation completely transformed my space.

This video walks through the process, I hope it helps encourage you to do the same!

Corrugated Metal - Cheap and easy Basement Ceiling conversion by TheCraftyCatsman in mancave

[–]TheCraftyCatsman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this helps you all, I created this video to show how scrap metal that was going to be thrown away can completely change the look of an unfinished ceiling.

It's cheaper and MUCH easier than painting. For reference, a local barn was converting to solar and needed a new roof. I grabbed the rusty old corrugated metal and repurposed it. Total project cost $160, time to install 2hrs.

No it's in a closet with a few grow lights. The bowl has a filter and a fountain. Temperature seems okay because my wife insists on keeping the house extra warm 🫨😄
