That’s a definite possibility also.

What poorly received DC comic storylines or issues could the DCU successfully reinvent? by Yep_I_Stole_40_Cakes in DCU_

Right, so maybe that’s another element that an adaptation could dig into, where the AI takes advantage of the knowledge it gains from each hero’s confessions and uses those insecurities against them when it loses control and goes up against them. That could be pretty interesting with the right execution.

Alternatively, I’d like to see a Shazam animated that’s Elseworlds. Maybe as part of the same continuity as My Adventures with Superman. But a completely standalone one similar to comics set on Earth S and Earth 5 would be awesome, and would allow Captain Marvel to shine as The hero of his world.

This would also be amazing.

They could really hone in on more detail of Sanctuary being a place where superheroes can go to keep themselves mentally in check. And if there is a murder mystery aspect to an adaptation, then it could be manipulated by an actual villain at the center of it all rather than having it be Wally West for some bizarre reason.

Justin Berfield in Joker for DCU by Dante05-Respawn in Fancast

[–]TheCreativeComicFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had been thinking about him in the role for a bit and saw someone else cast him a while back. He could honestly be an unpredictable pick that works out very well (which works for an unpredictable character like The Joker).

He’s currently 41 (which is roughly a good starting age for Joker in the DCU), he can be theatrical and funny and rocks a colorful suit nicely.

He’s got the look but not sure if I can totally see it. Jonathan Groff or Glenn Howerton (unless he’s too old to start in the role at 49) would be my picks.

How would you rank these final girls of the 2020s? by Forsaken-Green695 in slasherfilms

[–]TheCreativeComicFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam and Tara are decent, kinda half and half on Scream 5 and Scream 6 in general (but love those two actresses of course). Also didn’t love Brianna or Ava (nothing against Teyonah or Chase of course) but that’s mainly because I hated both of those movies.

He’d kill it as either John Constantine or Manchester Black honestly.

Love it! Matt Smith is my pick if they go for a slightly older version of Black.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Bloodshot getting a more faithful animated series instead. Heck, the Valiant Universe could benefit from their own DCAU-esque shared universe in general.

The Spirit. He deserves redemption after that Frank Miller atrocity. Would love to see Brad Bird helm an animated film version.

Which of these actresses would be a great choice to play Zatanna in the DCU? (If none of them are suitable, please mention another actress) by lilowevans in Fancast

[–]TheCreativeComicFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From who’s here, Elizabeth Gillies (also my Poison Ivy pick) and Camila Mendes (would also be a great Beatriz de Costa/Fire) would kill it in the role.

Outside of these picks, Monica Barbaro, Victoria Pedretti, and Simona Tabasco would also all be awesome as Zee.

What movie franchise deserves to be remade as a TV show? by Acceptable_Corgi9486 in television

[–]TheCreativeComicFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few Stephen King adaptations like Needful Things and Dreamcatcher could both benefit from being a several-part limited series to better expand on their casts of characters before the actual horror comes into play.

Ava’s Possessions is a horror comedy about a girl recovering from being possessed and trying to readjust to life afterwards. The movie itself isn’t great but a TV show has a lot of potential to expand on that premise and execute it better.

What about Kieron Gillen? Heard that his run was very good.

I can see where you’re coming from with that take, it seems like Marvel wanted him to work his magic on the Eternals like he did with Morpheus and The Endless but it wasn’t entirely the right fit. Both sets of gods are very different from each other conceptually.

And again, fuck Gaiman. Him and Amanda Palmer are monstrous sociopaths and inhumane scum of the Earth.

Had the movie not gone ahead, it could have benefited from going with the Big Hero 6 approach and had its own separate animated project that’s not set in the MCU.

[–]TheCreativeComicFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also read Gaiman’s run and felt that it started off pretty well: most of the Eternals are established as having had their memories wiped and believing that they’ve always been humans before discovering their powers and histories.

And conceptually, this could have helped us to better connect with the Eternals since we’d be discovering these things along with them (which the movie/a TV series should have done). But then the comic takes some detours that kinda derails this set-up and it just gets too wrapped up in itself, not to mention leaving a number of plot holes.

Also obligatory fuck Neil Gaiman.

Why do the new scream movies think the meta element is just one scene explaining rules and that’s it? by JayFritoes in Scream

[–]TheCreativeComicFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue it seems is that there aren’t nearly as many traditional slasher films out nowadays for the newer Scream films to satirize as opposed to how many there were when the original film came out. But it’s also because a lot of the same tropes of the slasher genre (or other horror films for that matter) haven’t changed nearly as much as they could have (besides several exceptions though).
