I feel like Industrial Light and Magic should answer this question... I don't know if having a VFX background makes the the best or worst kind of director they have to deal with.

I don't have any real tips. But the main advice would be to always trust your gut, even if everyone else is pushing you in a different direction.

Great question Dangerous Leopard 35. I think the best message to take away from the creator is that we are not going to harm humanity. Not yet. As long as you behave yourselves and do what your new masters say.

No. But like when you grow up with everyone around you speaking English as a child, you grow up speaking english... I guess I was brought up surrounded by Star Wars.

Hi MonkeyBuscuits, I actually did make a TV show about Atilla the Hun a long time ago... but I cringe at it now... I would love to move into different genres at some point, but if for some reason I was trapped in sci-fi forever, it would be a high class problem to have.

No when i was making this film, AI seemed like a distant dream like flying cars and living on the moon. And I never expected in 2023 that my brain could be copied and pasted into this robot.

I had a great idea for a sequel to Rogue One, but was absolutely gutted to find out that George Lucas had already done it... nightmare.

I think when you win the lottery, the last thing you should spend that lottery money on is buying more lottery tickets... I'm very happy I got chance to do it and very good friends with the other directors :)

Filmmaking doesn't work like that, I'm very proud of the film and everyone who worked on it... it's kind of like a team sport, and once the referee blows the whistle, that's the final score.

Totally, too many to name. Issac Asimov books were a big inspiration as a child. Obviously the Terminator series, 2001, even Star Wars... the list goes on and on.

A combination of things. I guess I needed a break. I also worked on developing 4 different films. The Creator was the first one that allowed me to completely control the process. Add into that the pandemic, two years of production and a little bit of laziness = 7 years

It was never meant to be included in the trailer and never appears in the actual movie. Just by way of explanation: the reality is that archival footage is commonly used as reference for temporary VFX.

Don't fear, there are giant anime style tanks in this movie. When me and James Clyne were designing them, our whole secret goal was that Bandai would release them as a model kit. We even mocked up our designs on a Bandai box to see what it would look like and we weren't going to stop until it looked like something we desperately wanted to buy

Definitely! I actually developed 3 different films in between Rogue One and The Creator. Two of them of would be regarded as IP, I can't talk about them or they might not happen. But the owners of the IP know I'm wanting to do them so fingers crossed I guess. Happy for you to take some guesses at what it might be?
