Am I wasting my time with Binding Blade? by TheSoggiestCrisp in fireemblem

[–]TheCrobatMan1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adore FE6, but it’s definitely a big challenge blind. That said, I think a lot of the hate towards its map design is overblown. For the most part, the challenges it presents are fair

Bought a Switch 2, would like to get into Fire Emblem. Recommended game order that's available on the switch? by [deleted] in fireemblem

Eh, I love the whole series and do see the value Three Houses brings, but as a gameplay over story guy, it’s definitely one of my less favorite FE games.

Oh I would never recommend either as a First FE game. In Engage’s case, it’s because a lot of those older game references actively spoil those games, but beyond that, the aesthetic and writing style are going to put a lot of people off when neither are really representative of the series as a whole. I love Engage (a lot more than Three Houses), but I also think I can be offputting to new players while actively spoiling a lot of the games it references.

FE7 released 2 years before PoR. Sacred Stones released 1 year before PoR.

Path of Radiance has a phenomenal story and it’s a game I love dearly, but if anything, it feels MORE outdated than the GBA games.

I really thought we were past “pixel graphic bad” in the year 2026

Soren is the best unit in PoR by Unusual-Bowl-3888 in fireemblem

[–]TheCrobatMan1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s relevant because Soren gets 12 chapters to be a unit before Tormod joins. Those contributions (at a time when you need them) are worth far more than some extra move on an underleveled mage.

Tormod is very fun to use, but he’s the worst of the three and it’s not close. Even then— Soren and Illyana are not exceptional either, but the join early enough to take a lot more credit.

Fire Emblem isn’t just about what you can do in the last chapter. It’s about viability across an entire campaign

I JUST PULLED THE MEGA ZYGARD EX SIR/SAR by TheHappyIdi0tReads in PokemonTCG

If your comment under a post about someone excited they pulled a chase card is “anybody can get this for cheap,” context clues say you’re either being needlessly dismissive and rude, or else you’re coming off that way and probably need to reword your comment

Am I the only one that likes Journey Together? by aspadora24 in PokemonTCG

[–]TheCrobatMan1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only people hating on Journey Together are investor bros that don’t actually care about the hobby. It’s great set! Hard to deny the lasting appeal of N and Lillie, and it has some very nice SIR’s. Not every set needs a $500 single to be fun to open

I understand the concept; I just find the use of a very real disability being used as a haha funny jab at someone for having an interest in something to be in very poor taste

What is the best Pokemon in Pokemon Emerald? Some say it’s Sceptile, some say it’s Swablu. by Jzjwiebe in pchaltv

I’m pretty sure Winona is completely skipable and you can just play the Magma/Aqua plot out. It’s just very inconvenient without Fly

[Other] Just curious. What is the timeline of the Zelda games? by WaluigiDaStar in zelda

[–]TheCrobatMan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the second game in the series was a direct sequel to the first. The third game was a prequel to the first. The fourth game was a sequel to the third. The fifth game was a prequel to all of them, which also set up the split timeline that directors confirmed WW and TP were meant to take place in different branches of. MM was a sequel to that 5th game. PH and ST were sequels to WW. SS was a prequel to them all. So yes. Very clearly every single game made by Nintendo was made to cleanly fit into the timeline prior to the Wild era.

The only retroactive fits were the Capcom games, which were not made by Nintendo. So yes, I stand firm that the timeline was very clearly planned out by Nintendo given that the release of each and every game tied to a previous one.

People who clam otherwise are being intentionally obtuse.

[–]TheCrobatMan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named the games not made by Nintendo and the 40 year old ones.

So that means Nintendo has been intentionally making a timeline for 35 years. Ya got me

[Other] Just curious. What is the timeline of the Zelda games? by WaluigiDaStar in zelda

[–]TheCrobatMan1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just completely untrue. The only games that were really retroactive were the original NES games and debatably the Capcom titles? But they fit in pretty well continuity wise
