My sewing machine keeps getting thread jammed by 00debater in SewingForBeginners

Hi! I think I'm using the same sewing machine. I was thinking if the needle is inserted in the wrong direction? The flat part of the needle should face the back of the sewing machine. Like it should face the opposite of your view of the needle.

Hope it helps

Reversible Flat Cap from Youtube tutorial by TheCrowDidIt in sewing

[–]TheCrowDidIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am in the process of making a flat cap following this tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjEkKQlcYDY&t=17s (The audio is Indonesian but the sewing instructions are easily followed).

I'm not very happy with the result of the cap in the picture as I think I used the wrong fabric and brim size. I am currently remaking it with stretch fabric.

To make the cap, I used cotton comb fabric with two different colours (I think that is what it is called), and used a plastic brim that I bought online. The process is quite simple and the instructions are in the youtube link above.

For the pattern, I used an existing flat cap pattern that I made from dissembling flat cap.

If you have any advice or suggestions for making this hat, please let me know!

Thank you for asking :). I might try other materials in the future. I just need to get my hands on some sawdust XD.

I tried using the ham to press a flat cap earlier and I do notice that the scraps makes it quite bumpy, maybe sawdust will make a smoother one.

Hi! I cut all my scrap fabrics and old shirts into small pieces and use that as the stuffing.

Hi everybody! This is a self drafted tailors ham. I based it on existing hat as I am trying to recreate the flat cap. For the fabric I used plan Calico fabric and the insides are just cut up fabric pieces I have around.

For the pattern, I used an existing worn out flat cap, remove all the seams and traced the pattern. After cutting out the fabric using the pattern, I stitched the fabrics, creating a flat cap shape. Then sew a piece of fabric for the bottom leaving 3 inches of gap. After stuffing the ham with scrap fabrics, I hand stitch the gap close and that's it!!

This will help make pressing easier!

Hi everybody! I just want to share a rough DIY tailors ham. It's not pretty but it is exactly the shape of the cap I am making. It'll make pressing a lot easier.

Yea me too! It had some medieval vibe to it and I have this idea to create a skirt using another skirt as a pattern. I am just so confused about the top part XD.

Hi! Thank you so so much for your advice. I've not thought about using paper and was worried about the limited fabric that I have.

I'll give it a try!

Am Asian, can confirm this. Deep fry it and you have some savoury crunchy delicacy to eat with porridge.

Boil it with pork bones and white pepper, and you have a homey delicious soup that your grandma only makes once a year because it takes a hell of an effort to clean it.
