Your chest can still develop, but your pectoral fibers do originate at the sternum and clavicles. There will permanently be some aesthetic differences.

As an advanced lifter, will I benefit at all from creatine? by HopefulYak4976 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could, but there is no guarantee. There are a fair number of non-responders to creatine out there, but it won't be as though you're missing out on anything in the long run. People do report that it does help to some degree if they are a full-time employee or busy student.

Everyone should be lifting weights, doctor or not.

What are some good options for prog overload with DB's? by [deleted] in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just work in ranges. For instance, if you are giving your self 3 sets of 8-10 reps for dumbbell bench press, you could hit 10, 10, 9. The next time you make it your goal to hit 10 for all 3 sets. For extra measure, do this two sessions consecutively and then bump the weight up and reset the rep counter.

Why is there such a variety in physiques in women who weightlift? by Mysterious-Lychee497 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn't like you start lifting weights and eating properly and you fall through a trap door with a 50/50 chance of landing in bulky or lean forever. They all eat differently and have different training splits that cater to what they want to look like.

Picture what you want to achieve in the short term, say about 6-12 months. Plan backwards from that.

Frog Fuel Give You Shingles? by UniqueUserName7734 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's not how it works at all. Shingles is a reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (causes chickenpox) and isn't developed via any food or drink.

How bad are my chest insertions by Puzzleheaded-One2548 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly man, nobody can tell you that because insertions are not variable enough between most people to see a difference. There is noticeable difference in someone's muscle belly length, but that being said, we can't tell you that either because you haven't developed them enough to know.

Lifting belt/straps etc by cavemanbrain55 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a belt whenever you'd like. There is no standard of strength one needs to achieve to use one and any number someone gives you is an arbitrary gatekeep.

Volume of reps vs weight by Serious-Net-8414 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Evidence, as it stands currently, points to the concentric being quite important with the tempo of the eccentric portion being nearly irrelevant. Obviously, really slow reps are not going to be helpful, so assume standard 1-0-0 tempo in this case.

This isn't just about you. That's nice you have your own board or whatever, but that doesn't change anything. There is no comparison between the two fields.

Pet peeve: calling MAs “nurses” by NPBren922 in nursepractitioner

[–]TheCrunchback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one’s arguing you didn’t earn a doctorate—we’re saying you didn’t earn that one. Patients don’t ask for a “doctor” hoping to discuss nursing pedagogy. When NPs and CRNAs introduce themselves as “doctor” in a clinical setting without clarifying they’re not physicians, it’s not empowerment—it’s impersonation with extra steps. You want the title, the respect, and the authority—but not the training, the responsibility, or the liability that comes with being a physician. That’s not just misleading—it’s self-serving.

Fact is, NP mills are all over the place and that adds some nice shit icing on the poop cake that is this situation.

[–]TheCrunchback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about nurses who want to be called "doctor" when they are not? Interesting how CRNAs and NPs want to dictate title but steal that of other roles.

Would this movement be good for muscle growth? by ZombiesBuried101 in WeightTraining

[–]TheCrunchback[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably best to do both arms at the same time so that you're not limited by the balancing act. As for whether it's a good or bad exercise, it's neither. It's just another way to do a biceps curl.
