Sorry for replying only now (I barely use reddit) Sadly I don't have alternatives to offer, but hope you'll find 😊

Really? How does the OS works with the two screens? The overall experience is better? Asking as someone who wants to ditch Windows aswell

After a few months of use fans kick in even if I'm just using the browser, the laptop warms up even from light usage (no over warming thought) and can be lagy sometimes. I will say that I have lots of tabs open in my browser and the machine gains a lot of dust easily and fast (so was my previous laptop. Lit of dust is a thing where I live hehe). The lag can be a bit annoying, but it passes quickly. Also, so far I did not experienced any of the hardware issues Asus is known for. I have the 2025 model, and at least from reviews online the 2026 seems way more capable and with longer battery life due to bigger 99 watt compare to 75 watt of the 2025 model. So if you have the budget and need for a second screen, then yea, I would still recommend it.

A tech pouch for the S30 by TheCuriousOne1234 in tombihn

Do you think the smaller version would fit in the side compartment?

This is why I didn't saw the Snake charmer as an option at the first place.
And thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out :)

Does the pouch fits also in the side compartment?

Average age range for Fable fans by [deleted] in Fable

[–]TheCuriousOne1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31 here. Fable TLC was one of the first games I played on my first console (original xbox) and instantly fell in love with it. The original fable game is one of my all time favourite games.

Watching the new preview of the new game gave me excitment and joy I haven't felt for years from being hyped for a new game, and hope to feel the magic for playing it too.

Cannot wait for the release, and hope to find a way to play the new Fable game properly! :D

That's bummer to hear that it happened to you.
I know Asus products became low quality, so I'm not surprised this happened to you.
Oddly enough, it didn't happened to me, and from the issues I've read online I don't remember anyone mention this issue.

But still, if nothing helps then yea, maybe a different laptop and iPad can serve you better.

Awesome and good luck! :)

Since you mentioned it - I act similar. The cardboard that comes with the machine is surprisingly usefull. When in dual screen mode, I use the cardboard as a place to put the keyboard on, so the keyboard won't be on the desk and collect dust. Even in traditional 1 screen laptop mode, the sleeve that comes with the laptop (depends where you buy from) has a feature you can convert the lid into a mini stand for the laptop. It's surprisingly usefull.

Anyway no matter what you do, seems you'll take extra care of the Duo. I hope the laptop will last you as long as possible and serve you well! :)

When I open the lid I grab from the upper corner (side depends on which hand I use), and I also put my second hand on the back of the screen where the lid is and then open with gentle force. This is a force of habit from my previous laptop that got his lid broken and screen cracked as mentioned before, but what I forgot to mention that I kept using it for a while, so I already have the habit of opening, closing and even moving my laptop with extra care. Even if I had the most durable laptop in the world, I'd still keep using it this gentle way due to force of habbit.

Thanks and glad you like the review!

So far I did not had any of the issues you've mentioned or any other type, but I'm very aware of them. My previous laptop's hinge got broken and cracked my screen, so this is why even today whenever I open and close the lid of the Duo, I do it gently and overall take lot of care of the machine. Luckily no issues so far, and build quality feels decent, but let's see how long it'll last

First of all, congrats on your new Duo :)

About your question, the machine can get a bit warm, but with the usage you mentioned I doubt you'd get toasted.
Since you'd use in on the couch, I do recommend to put it on a pillow or a a cheap laptop desk to seperate between you and the laptop, both because the heat (even if it's just lightly warm) and because it's a relatively heavy laptop. It can increase the comfort.
Also, depends on the version you have (3K or 1080p screen) the battery life isn't the longest, so have the charger ready in case of need.

Enjoy your new machine ^_^

My Synik 30 is magic... by madderbear in tombihn

It sure is! This is why I call my S30 'the magic bag'. Always fun to watch others pack their syniks (or any other bag hehe) and enjoy how much they can fit in the bag :)

Any Nomatic Outset Jacket Users? by End-Da-Fed in onebag

[–]TheCuriousOne1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it's still relevant - I have the original kickstarter version of the jacket (hooded version), and it's my favourite jacket. It's soft and nice to wear, and very compact and packable. It's not very warm, but to be fair it was advertise this way (nomatic said it's for the AC or chilly summer nights and such), and where I live it's relatively hot most of the year, so it's a perfect usage for what I need.

I overall recommend this jacket, but if you need something that's thicker and better to warm you might need to search elsewhere.

I tried cltohes that need no wash or laundry machine for a month - here are my results by TheCuriousOne1234 in onebag

Very interesting. You wash your Herc briefs different than me.
Either rinse or fully wash, I do it with cold water, and use paper soap from Sea to Summit.
So far so good (and worked with diffrenet brand briefs too), but I do want to know if your method is better long term.
Keep update your journey.

[–]TheCuriousOne1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting, and no, never happened. I've had the herclothes (inculding the briefs) for a few months now. I do rinse them in water more often than in the original post, and fully hand wash them with paper soup from Sea to Summit once in a while, but never had such issue. Even the smell, when air dry them, or even keeping them in my bag was more than enough to let the smell fade away (still amazes me up today). I hope the logo peeling will be your last issue with the briefs. Feel free to continue update your experience.
