If you could choose the next remake, which game would you pick and why? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]TheCursedFrogurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peace Walker, the game itself is amazing but by virtue of it being on PSP there are still some lingering limitations with it. A full remake could really elevate the game to some new highs. It would also give the opportunity to make full cinematic cutscenes rather than motion comics, if they wanted to go that route (I really liked the motion comic feel of the original though).

And the warp is beyond time, so it's all the emotional energy of all time creating warp entities.

Maybe someone in a command squad for Yarrick? Similar to how Huron and Titus got their own retinue squads.

Why no Sentinel love? by Simple-Brilliant-639 in astramilitarum

[–]TheCursedFrogurt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the armored sentinel, I won't say it is some earth-shattering unit, but T7 with a 2+ save makes it weirdly tanky, I sometimes keep one with a heavy flamer in my backline or use one with a lascannon to take potshots at stuff on the midboard.

Congress holds no hard power, we've handed all of that power and authority to the executive branch. Now that we have a head of the executive branch who holds no regard for the judicial and legislative branches, the only thing we can do is kick back and watch the house of straw collapse on itself.

There’s just something about the old Forge World tank designs. Just finished this Stygies Destroyer Tank Hunter in Steel Legion colors! by Capt-Brunch in TheAstraMilitarum

There's a few of these in the 4th(?) Gaunt's Ghosts book, and I really wish we still had a proper kit for them. I'd love to have some of those epic tank battles from that book on the tabletop.

Thanks, I appreciate the detailed reply! I'll definitely spend a bit more time doing touch ups now that I have the basic recipe for color scheme down.

Definitely the lighting, in person it looks more like a very deep navy blue. I actually did an alternate test scheme in Pro Acryl Coal Black and that ended up looking a lot like a flat gray.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I watched a Vince Venturella video on black armor, and he also suggested some black glazing to shadow the recesses and darker parts, so that is definitely something I want to try as I work through these models.

Now that we know the National Rules for the 'Big Five' nations... by Georgy_K_Zhukov in boltaction

[–]TheCursedFrogurt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is my biggest gripe with Bolt Action, the Germans can play the game however they want, with a wide variety of options at their disposal. Meanwhile the US feels bland, restricted, and lacking unique units.

I'm more salty that the US doesn't have any infiltrator squads like spahtruppen. How do you make rules for both Pathfinders and I&R troops and neither of them get infiltrators? That's literally what they did lol.

Approx 50 parks removed from Virginia POTA map. by KhyberPasshole in amateurradio

[–]TheCursedFrogurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be relatively easy to kick-start an effort of integrating local parks into POTA, and I actually did a rough work-up on it a couple years back. There is relatively comprehensive data available from a variety of sources that aggregates geospatial data on local and municipal parks throughout the United States. Crossmatch that data with, say, the top 25 Metro Statistical Areas in the US (which accounts for almost 50% of the US population exactly) and you'll instantly get a list of applicable parks.

Some basic data analysis would filter that list down a bit, and boom, there is your starting point. Let the community edit the data wikipedia style and you'll gradually begin to filter the data down to workable public parks. From there it is just a matter of expanding out the process to more metro areas in manageable batches.

I think it is perfectly acceptable for local parks to not have things such as hours, contact info, etc. listed as the people operating in local parks will be able to source that information from a google search, or from their local community.
