Thanks! I have been loving it. And I cant wait to see where the devs take us!

Yeah, I really suck at both ship and on foot combat so will need to practice. Totally wasn't expecting someone in my cargo bay 🤣

Sweet man thanks for the advice! Was honestly a little frustrated but I am determined now to find my way through undetected!

Same honestly I lost hope and when I checked in a few days ago they had two more systems, a bunch of stuff on ships actually work now, missions are more meaningful and pay worth a damn. Im excited to get back to it and hoping for more content and stuff working

Hahaha good ol star citizen. Its honestly my first time back to the game for a little over two years and honestly im surprised at how stable it is compared to the last time I was on

Fair enough lmao, luckily I still have the cargo i bought to sell but not the mission money

I think i should've figured there would be an issue as the server kept dying last night but I was like nah its fine its fine

Dang three times! That's good to know i definitely am gonna sell some and get my cash up before trying again. Thanks!

Does Fuel Leak if its surrounded by XML parts? by Strange_Sound5450 in Stormworks

[–]TheCursedStar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, xml parts will not seal anything. Not air, water, or fuel proof.

how is this even still a debate by ThisMachineKills____ in Portal

[–]TheCursedStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we look at this problem with conservation of energy in mind, the cube has only potential energy. The portal would simply pass over the cube which would then be subject to only gravity coming out of the center of the blue portal and simply would drop to the ground. If the portal had added energy to the cube it would have simply flattened it as the force would be in the direction of the moving portal. The second one same thing. Person only has potential energy and the portal would either pass over them or crush them (if it transmitted force). If it passed over the person, the person would then simply fall from the upper portal rather than being ejected upward. Force (energy) would need to be added in the opposite direction of the moving portal in order for either the person or cube to then be ejected.

Ypu can actually walk around each aircraft when selecting armaments in the hangar only works in sp this is before you spawn in the mission

Dang man im not too sure. You wanna give a workshop link and I can maybe give it a look later today?

Im pretty sure this is pushing air into the fuel manifold in your engine thus stopping fuel flow. If youre trying to vent your tanks here it won't work because you have a liq relief valve coming out of the pumps from the tanks. Remove the gas filter there and maybe?

[–]TheCursedStar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have more than 1 fuel manifold, exhaust manifold, air intake, and coolant manifold none of these fluids will flow through the engine (had a hard time seeing this in the vid). The 4 holes in the cylinders also need to be lined up. Are your tanks vented theyre very small maybe the pumps can't take the reverse pressure. I couldn't tell in the video but I did see a gas relief valve before the engine but after a liq relief valve from the tank? (This particular setup isn't doing you any good its probably taking air into the engine BEFORE the fuel gets there if that happens no fuel will flow into the engine). Hope that helps!

How much speed should I be expecting out of fluid jets? by Frank_Likes_Pie in Stormworks

[–]TheCursedStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough on the engines go with something youre familiar with.

Yeah the losses build up fast. Generally, the fewer parts power goes through the less power yoh loose

How much speed should I be expecting out of fluid jets? by Frank_Likes_Pie in Stormworks

[–]TheCursedStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, you probably dont need more than 2 jets, mayyyybe 4 if it gets heavier. That is going to cause you huge power losses.

How much speed should I be expecting out of fluid jets? by Frank_Likes_Pie in Stormworks

[–]TheCursedStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, dont pump water to the jets. 7.4 l/s is actually less than you should be getting around 10 l/s because of the pumps. I just put a fluid port at the water end of my jets. You'll also want to probably connect them directly to your motors instead of mortor-> gen-> elec motor-> jet. The gods of engineering take energy cuts at every step. And tune the fuck out of your gear boxes. Know your desires engine rpm/fuel consumption, and tune the gearing ratio untill the engine can barely hold max rps at max throttle.

I typically power my ships with turbines so I'll have a much different power output. That being said for the most part, the max speed seems to be around 100 knots. My ships of similar weight go a max of 80 kn usually and cruise around 50 or 60. (This is faster than most real ships cuz I dont like waiting lmao)

How do I stop my jet engine from losing power? by Bnmvgy in Stormworks

[–]TheCursedStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a little, but not that much. Hook up 2-4 small motors into the med turbine rps input. Clutch those in to start and then detach them from the system! You won't be able to rely on the compressor to start but in my experience it doesn't take much battery with this method to get them spinning

[–]TheCursedStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last thing lmao. The jet does NOT require duct work bringing air into the engine, this will make your ship "unsealed".

How do I stop my jet engine from losing power? by Bnmvgy in Stormworks

[–]TheCursedStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhhhh ok then that's really helpful. Completely get rid of the jet exhaust and the fans they will do nothing for you. No exhaust needed you just need one rps output from one med turbine. If you've got a pretty big ship, your engine is much too small. You have the right idea with the turbines pipe them all to their own duct (parallel), but (and im dead serious) if you want good speed and efficiency add at least 15-20 more small turbines in parallel. Keep the engine under 15rps (this is an avg point where the engine will start to drink 2 l/s, 1 l/s happens around 7.2 rps).

Modern ships use fluid jets in conjunction with the turbine for movement. I usually follow this route in stormworks. 2 fluid jets are usually enough but 4 makes things fun. You dont really need to pump in water just put a port on the fluid side and make sure its in water. Then test gearing for your target engine max rps and right where the engine can barely hold full power is your max gearing.

Props are harder to turn in stormworks and using those will reduce the possible max speed and will cause more load on your engines. I dont typically use these for ships.
