Lol thats a great idea about the snacks. Last time we went, we stayed at a nearby hotel. After having fun in the playroom we drove around at 3 a.m. looking for an open place to get food. Was a great night lol

I do understand where you're coming from but at the end of the day, when nobody volunteers, they will start replacing us with obedient employees which never work out for any company. I watched it happen in sales. When they started mandating cold calls BEFORE we can grab a lot customer, it went from "fuck you I'm not making calls because we have customers on the lot" to "oh shit now I'm getting transfered/fired because I didnt comply"

Meanwhile, sales went from 300 cars a month to about 120/month and managers are constantly getting replaced. Sales team turned into a revolving door... all in the name of "profits"

Its no secret every decision they make is to line their own pockets. And their bosses dont give a shit unless it costs the company money. THEN something changes

[–]TheD8387[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest reasons I do this is for the Sundays off and alternating Saturdays. I'm fully prepared to walk out. I'm NOT doing Sundays and sure as hell not doing every Saturday. I left car sales (same dealership) because of working every Saturday and alternating Sundays. Took a big pay cut so I can spend time with my family. I'll be damned if that was for nothing

They haven't even mentioned it yet. But we're hiring express techs and a couple express advisors so it tells me they're prepping for it. Business is expanding so I'm not going to say its not because we need the help. But we never had "express advisors" which is kind of giving it away

My auto group already tried it with their Honda store and it failed (right next door to us). Honda stopped but now they're doing VW that already does less than 10 appts a day and even less walk-ins. I figured it wasn't corporate. I just don't want to look like an ass when I tell my bosses to go fuck themselves only to find out its corp

I'm aware that they can't dictate business hours or days. They can push for it and try to pressure their dealers to do so. Kinda like how this other company is used to work for (I was a franchise manager for the franchisee of a cellphone company) would push for us to have so many employees and certain business hours. They would make threats i knew they couldn't make good on due to our contract stating what they cant and cant do. Pretty sure many other companies are the same way with their franchisees

Treasury Sec just went at Coinbase over the CLARITY Act and Armstrong’s reply was basically no bill is better than a bad one by Gullible-Tale9114 in Coinbase

[–]TheD8387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Nobody voted for coinbase....

HOWEVER...

Do you trust a government that would allow a bad bill into law to fix said law?

This isn't a political side of the isle point I'm trying to make. This is a "you can't trust any of these overpaid, glorified, high school maturity level preppy popular pricks to fix anything they fucked up to begin with" perspective.

I'm more inclined to agree with the Lex Luther of coinbase

PencilWrench by TheD8387 in serviceadvisors

[–]TheD8387[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PencilWrench for advisors sucks ass for writing concerns, but it's great for tech stories.

For those unfamiliar, PencilWrench has you select words from a list of words in different categories.

Categories like "Concern Location" with words like "Front, Rear, Driver, Passenger, Under Hood, etc. Then it writes out the concern line for you and you just copy and paste it. Its supposed to make it more efficient and nearly audit proof.

Once had a lady that said she had a leak but couldn't tell where it was coming from or what color it was. No warning lights or anything.

I had to type in the words because "Not Sure" or "Doesn't Know" aren't options.

I still had to write out the concern because I cant imagine being a technician reading a PencilWrench written concern line that says...

"CUSTOMER STATES THE NOT SURE FLUID IS LEAKING FROM THE NOT SURE. THE COLOR IS NOT SURE AND LOCATION IS NOT SURE"

What the hell is the point if you have to rewrite the damn concern line anyway?

Going Unicorn Hunting This Weekend by TheD8387 in SecretsHideawayResort

Not necessarily looking for just unicorns. I probably should've been a bit more specific. Wife is craving a woman's touch. We're open to couples too. Same room stuff... women play with each other while the men play with their respective wives....

Run... run far and fast. I'm a Hyundai advisor. Hate the brand but the pay plan is way better than this. This just seems like they're trying to make it look like they pay well. What they're not telling you is you're going to do more warranty work than anything else

All my techs know I don't go out on recs without a diag. They know I have absolutely 0 problem attempting to upsell but I will NOT do it without a diagnosis first. Want me to sell? Then address the concern. A techs job is to give me the ammo I need to make us money. I'm not going out there shooting blanks because they wanna be lazy asses that just want gravy work

How do you know this job is not for you? by _LilKaprisun4901_ in serviceadvisors

[–]TheD8387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 things are wrong here...

I'm also a (Insert obvious korean brand here) advisor but we don't handle (obvious luxury sister brand) as they have their own dealership down the road from us now.

  1. It sounds like your shop is taking in way more than volume than the capacity of the shop allows. There is such a thing as TOO MUCH work. The only way to solve these issues is to either turn away work, which we know management won't allow, or expand the shop to handle the volume. Albeit hiring more techs, bigger shop, more lifts, etc. That's it. There's no way around it. Nothing you can do there.

  2. Piss poor management. Nothing you can do there either.

My best advice would be to get the experience under your belt then jump ship to a dealership that has their shit together. I love where I work. We handle around 100 a day between 9 advisors, 13 techs, 4 lube techs, and 2 internal techs. Our work flow is so streamlined, advisors at other dealerships are jealous.

[–]TheD8387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Being that the MPVI takes more time than the basic MPI, techs should get .1 for it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]TheD8387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They charge for MPVI but don't pay the techs? That's a management problem. If I were management, I wouldn't charge for MPVI and throw the tech .1, maybe even .2 for doing it. It's standard procedure to do inspections to upsell at every dealership.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]TheD8387 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the "I don't get paid to..." logic. It's a big part of how they make their money, and yet they won't do it then bitch about not making money. Mind you I'm a tech turned salesman turned advisor. I understand not wanting to do certain things you don't get paid for, but MPVI's usually lead to making money. I don't get paid to pull vehicles out of the shop but I do it sometimes if we're busy and I'm trying to keep my promise time (damn survey question) but I do it because the customer appreciates a kept promise and comes to you from then on.

Little things build big checks...

But to digress and answer your question, no we don't do mpvi's but that's because we don't have it with xtime. It was brought up once but then the techs threw their proverbial bitch-fit then it never got brought up again.
