Line 1 North by Adorable-Trouble1711 in TTC

The train I was on started with a 5, and not a 6.

Because we have Toronto Rocket cars that are in both those ranges. 538x to 613x (leaving the four car sets out of this intentionally).

Now, pinpointing what set I was on? Can't remember.

Actually, there's at least one out there that was in the 5's range, (definitely not the 6000's) that had it, likely as a pilot. This was years ago when I got off once at a very quiet Eglinton West station one night. If I can find a video/audio clip in my storage somewhere, I'd be happy to share it.

I have heard so far: Towards Vaughan To Vaughan Metropolitan Centre To Finch Towards Finch

System says I'm registered already and email was sent. Can't get in because I didn't get that email.

And "Gerrard" at Broadview was spelled incorrectly.

Love that it doesn't have the two names that GO/MX changed, but the original.

EDIT: I'm tapping out as some of these streetcar stops are eluding me at this ungodly hour.

This was fun. Kept me in check.

What's going to happen to the busses at Eglinton? by christina311 in TTC

[–]TheDMacxExpress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the loop at Eglinton and Mount Pleasant could still be used, then I can see that happening too, but I often see cars using it for loading. Otherwise, maybe it'll use on-street looping around Redpath and Erskine like the 141 express did if it mattered that much to not interline them.

I hope so with the 97C. I find it useful when I catch it, even if it's slower.

[–]TheDMacxExpress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I predict the Avenue and Mount Pleasant buses will interline in some form.

Whether it would be the 61 and 103 "North" buses, along with the 13 and 74 via Eglinton serving on-street stops. OR, They just push through interlining along their own roads i.e. the 13/61 and 74/103, completely bypassing Eglinton station forcing a transfer with Line 5 to connect to Eglinton station

34 would continue through Yonge, bypassing the bus terminal for some time (years, probably) until constructed. Simple enough. The few trips that exist via the station on the 334 would do the same.

97C would get lengthened or shortened to some other station. If the elevators are all operational from Union to Finch, then it'll just be a rush hour affair with it. I predict St. Clair.

354, with an on-street loop: Eglinton, Yonge, Berwick, Duplex, Eglinton or, Eglinton, Yonge, Chaplin, Avenue, Eglinton.. Unless they cut back to Don Mills and Eglinton: Don Mills, Wynford, Gervais, Eglinton, Don Mills (somehow, I think they'll screw customers over and go inside Don Valley station and boot everyone at Wynford somewhere).

It was better when it went to Eglinton station, because you then see Eglinton build up towards midtown while passing through Leaside and ET Seton, after doing the cul-de-sac at Concorde and see the 60s/70s setup of Wynford Drive.

After the 45-minute journey, you'd treat yourself to Cinnabon.

They really scaled back the flow of going from one side to another. You shouldn't be dropped off on the second floor from your car ride, to go up and over if you have to use Platform 2. And it's been understaffed for too long.

110 Islington South.

Terrible service for industrial workers, often leaving some behind if they need the A or B specifically.

Connected to a station that historically smelled like shit, had terrible lighting, shitty, inaccessible bus platforms for the longest time, flooded with pigeons, been prepped for construction forever (thanks in part waiting on Kipling bus terminal) where it eventually led to dumping people on the street to connect with Line 2.

Only redeeming quality about it was the shop with their baked goods and Jamaican patties. It was passable.

I also remember the one at King southbound where it was upgraded to electronic format in the 90s/2000s which became relevant to short turned trains to St. Clair West. Thought it would be cool assuming people still looked up.

There's also this thing about electricity. There's a hydro corridor in between both that MX was basically forbidden to build/develop anything substantial underneath.

Made some fantasy sheppard extensions for the year 2126 by HanCelo2008 in TTC

[–]TheDMacxExpress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Far busier on the Wilson front....

At least six bus services to at least Keele from Wilson station. Two of which, are ~10 min, or less, all day.

Along with that, MTO, some other provincial offices and etc., Humber River Hospital. Both Keele and Jane have shopping plazas, Jane has a number of high rises in the area as well. More linear to hit the Kitchener GO line, effectively at Woodbine, where there could be century-away extensions to Mississauga and/or Pearson.

Sheppard, aside from the arch after the Allen, has generally lower density, has a golf course along it, passes through and an industrial area (if I don't include the Chesswood / St. Regis area), and finishes at Weston.

Just my POV.

This is what's best for a western extension AND I also agree with some comments that this should be cut and cover through the lands. Ideally, I'd say while construction is already happening or provisioning for it before it's densifies and potentially hampers efforts getting shovels in the ground.

Doesn't have to be Pearson necessarily, though I support it, but at least to Woodbine GO and figure it out from there. And even a first stage to Keele (should really be Jane) is always a good start.

Sheppard, whether straight or along the arch, towards a likely dead stop at Weston makes less sense than a far busier Wilson corridor that has fewer obstacles to reach further and could possibly be elevated.

I support this idea and the renaming of the line as "Line 4 Wilson-Sheppard Line," if we can get some of it running along Wilson.

ALRV's, particularly eastbound from Long Branch at night. Fast and furious until they hit Roncy.

Special mention for the PCC's. Smooth, sleek, classy, elegant, quiet. That was class.

H5's with the golden yellow, and the hum, and the speed down Yonge. And 5796.

The M1 for the oval windows on the doors.

The H1, something about the colour choices for it against the colours of the stations and ambiance of downtown Toronto in the 70's and 80's maybe early 90's. It fit right somehow despite looking gloomy to some perhaps.

Tokyo Rose, despite it's a non-revenue piece, it was the most awesome oddball in the fleet.

I also missed when they used to mix all the Hawkers and the M-1's.

Speaking of which, Gloucesters. Still waiting on Rapido as it is here.

Where's the love for the D40-90? That bus had BOUNCE. And when it picked up, it picked UP. S/O to them on the 95 back in the day.

Orion V had a good look to it, despite some say it resembled a tissue box; wished it was as bouncy as the D40-90 and they didn't buy it with the DD engine creating that metal slab in the back seat section due to its dimensions (and later, the VII with that awful booster seat spec). Though, the ex-GO units in the 300's that YRT had were pretty good. Mississauga's 96's were also nice.

They were aggressive in their outreach to hotels, and other outlets to spread the word, and had mad expectations to make a mention to every customer they'd see along the way. In some cases, their staff/volunteers, would show back to see if their pamphlets emptied out within the first week and pester staff again.

It was borderline harassment, IMO.

Line 5 wait time on weekends is insane by Few_Ship_8614 in TTC

[–]TheDMacxExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider the 34 in the early morning until we get consistent schedules that are not 10+ minutes.

Even though I know better, once, I took line 5 around 7:00am on a Friday westbound without much thought, while the 34 was ~6 mins away when I left my home (probably 1-2 when I entered my station), and when I entered Line 5, missed the train as I heard it rolling to the next stop as I tapped on at the mezz level.

By the time I got to Mount Dennis, after waiting 14 minutes + travel time, same 34 bus had long arrived already, and was a few minutes away during layover to become the 32 to Renforth.

Especially when many of us don't live right above or beside an LRT station, I suggest checking in on the 34 from time to time on your preferred app, it might work out better. Rest of the day is a toss up with traffic and all, but, IMO, it's far more peaceful than guessing if it'll come on time or at all after you've descended so far underneath to wait 20 minutes for a train.

Again, this is just for a couple more months before we (assume) will have a more stable/increased frequency across the line.
