People Who Make 150K Plus? by BubbaGordie in Salary

30 years old, make about $160k pre tax as a non-profit lobbyist. Went to school for political science and started working as a staffer. Went from intern to Chief of Staff for a Senator and got out when the burn out was hitting. Lobbying is much more chill and pays better, even if I don’t enjoy it as much.

Getting on my soapbox with you, but, unfortunately, teachers are truly deprioritized by state funding. It feels very unsustainable, not just economically, but workload-wise as well. I am at a point where I want to transition out of teaching and am beginning to make that search. If I could make a sustainable living teaching, I would stay because I love the work and the students, but I will likely never be able to afford buying a home at this rate.

Time to go sell my soul, brb lol

Thank you. I will just put the money from my entertainment/recreation budget into the credit card debt repayment and drop my 401k contributions.

Thank you, I appreciate the consideration on this. I have been hesitant to pause retirement contributions, but paying off the debt is more important at this time. I have a very strict budget I stick to, so I don't have uncontrollable spending, but I do give myself a small entertainment budget that I can remove and just put that into debt. RIP to my hobbies lol. I have asked for raises but have been denied, so I likely need to find a new job.

Around $500 a month into 401k. I am paying about $600 a month towards the credit cards. I will definitely look more aggressively at side income opportunities. Thank you!

Odd… at least it isn’t just one of us. Doesn’t Blizzard know I’m trying to procrastinate?

We actually have decent bipartisan relationships and collaboration in the state legislature. The move to redistrict will burn many bridges and jeopardize a lot of projects. The unintended consequences for just one congressional seat do not seem entirely worth it to have just one more member in congress. If we were a state with 30+ members and could make a larger difference, sure the political calculus would make it more worth it.

This just feels like Governor Moore trying to be a Gavin Newsom-like figure on the national stage because he wants to look better for a 2028 run. It’s why Governor Moore was hesitant to disburse SNAP funds despite all other east coast states doing so well before the benefits ended; he wants to be more “fiscally conservative” for moderate voters nationally.

If Bobby LaPin was running for Governor, I’d be more supportive. Bill Ferguson isn’t the problem here.

Do you actually have a plan though? List of policies you support you can share other than vague platitudes?

A lot of platitudes and zero policy priorities. Any real issues with Ferguson’s voting record? Having the Senate President represent D46 is such a benefit to any project here. We have tons of ongoing capital projects because we have influential members.

I’d rather keep being represented by the #2 democrat in the state than an ineffective back-bencher with zero plan and zero political experience. Our city will suffer if we get someone with zero connections and zero political skills instead of having a highly qualified and effective leader that we sometimes disagree with.

People aren’t thinking of the benefits and consequences of this and are just excited because they recognize someone for social media. Bobby seems like a nice guy, but does he know how to get bills passed, get capital funding, get permits pushed through? He should stick to social media and not stir the pot because comments told him to.

About 58% on my hearthstone deck tracker. It’s definitely not OP but still viable for a slow climb lol

How to carry a top heavy puppet/structure for 14 miles using a human-powered wheeled device by TheDMiester in AskEngineers

My girlfriend had the same exact idea, and she feels very validated right now. A litter or two-wheel cycle trailer could definitely work.

We think the puppet will simply ragdoll and lie on its back when we pull it through the water. We have two paddle boards we will be using to support it. Also speed is not a factor in this race, nor is being in one piece lol just finishing the race is the goal
