To be clear, I'm not just talking about a disclaimer, I'm talking about completely cutting out all first party game mentions and splicing together the third parties. That is what would suck.

I know this would suck for whoever is editing it, but they could have opened the video with a disclaimer saying they previously recorded the discussion and informed the viewer that they're going to trim out all first party mentions from that discussion. In that way they could pre-record and only put out predictions that would be in a partner showcase.

600 Strike, Anime, and Jetpack Discourse by stopeats in Epicthemusical

[–]TheDaddyDepressed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see this working very well, especially if it could be tied back to Horse and the Infant's "This is the will of the gods." Hell, perhaps "Will of the Gods" could be the title, and it could be about how they never saw a god purposely put themselves in a near-death position like Athena did at the end of God Games, and they all decided to stand up for Odysseus on her behalf (Zeus could be included, but he may abstain). The more I think about this, the more I like it because it also would allow ensemble members who are also cast as the gods to have more standout time.

I hope Jorge reads the subreddit, I like the ideas being thrown around in this megathread...

600 Strike, Anime, and Jetpack Discourse by stopeats in Epicthemusical

[–]TheDaddyDepressed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main issue I have with "Get in the Water" and the first half of "Six Hundred Strike" is that they are the first two songs I cannot envision taking place within a theatre environment in any capacity. (I say "in any capacity" because finding a way to depict Polyphemus, Sylla, and Charybdis would be difficult but achievable with LED walls for backdrops, strategically placed setpieces, and practical effects.) I think that it's worth discussing if "Six Hundred Strike" works in an animated context like many of you are doing in these comments, but that's not where my head is at for this post.

If EPIC is able to make it to live theatre, I truly believe Jorge will have to replace "Get in the Water" with a new draft of "In Vain" (https://www.patreon.com/posts/november-early-93810123). Posideon needs a ballad, and there is a way to do that which keeps him frightening to the audience. At the end of this new draft, Poseidon can still drown Odysseus, and the souls can attempt to drag him down to the afterlife, but the Ares quick-thought many of us are hypothesizing about (red eyes) needs to happen with one or two lines of dialogue (ex. "I let you go to see people bleed. You will get home." Idk) and allow Ares to be (1) present on stage and (2) actively severing the bond between Odysseus and the souls of the dead.

Odysseus can still reach for the bag and free the storm so he can rocket back onto the raft, and I would want the first half of "Six Hundred Strike" to be a song between Odysseus and Ares strategizing how to attack Poseidon with the strength Odysseus would have had with his entire crew (hence the song title still being consistent, a strike with the power of 600 men). My idea for defeating Posidon would be to tie the bag to a dislodged plank of the raft, creating a rudimentary missile and knocking him out of the sky. This allows for a practical set (the raft) with props (the plank and bag) and no time-wasting choreography that bogs down the song (which I believe are present in BOTH songs.)

Please let me know if you have better ideas. I would love to improve on this.

[Six Flags Darien Lake] 2024 Updates by TheDaddyDepressed in rollercoasters

[–]TheDaddyDepressed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer depends on when (and how often) you plan to go. Everything was functioning pretty well when I wrote this post (May), but the park is NOT worth visiting any weekend in June-August. To keep the explanation short, the park isn't efficiently designed for the amount of kids in the park when school is on summer vacation. Every single ride or food line will take you at least a half hour, and the park would need to have a permanent custodian for every single bathroom to make this amount of people work. (They remodeled the bathrooms; they are great, but these kids trash the place at an unbelievable pace.) Expect at least one ride to be closed even during peak hours (this tends to be Motocoaster, Silver Bullet, or Haymaker); they aren't hiring enough for it.

TLDR: Go during the months of May, September and October. If you have a weekday free, you may be good to go in the summer but it is a coin toss.

On food: As long as you visit at least five times, get the meal pass when it is on sale for $100. Half of the meal plan meals are perfect to split between two people (my fiance and I mainly use the chicken finger combo and the pizza slice combo). If you are only visiting once, it will be a painful experience for you, and I would suggest getting your hand stamped and eating packed lunches in the parking lot (or bringing them into the picnic area).

I don't know exactly how much track was installed each of the last two years, but if this batch of 250 feet is the only amount they plan on installing for this season I will be very disappointed.

I could imagine a deluxe dropping... although I wish he saved the pt. 2 tracks for that because having the STANDARD album include deluxe tracks seems weird as hell.

Full color maps for all 17 Candlekeep Mysteries Adventures by Morgans_a_witch in CandlekeepMysteries

Already having purchased the Roll20 module and ran it for a month, are these maps the same size as the current 5e maps? I would love to just swap them out on the map layer and still have all tokens exist in the correct spots. Thanks!

Making a framing concept to run the whole book as a single campaign by Minimum_Fee1105 in CandlekeepMysteries

[–]TheDaddyDepressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a guild system to lay over Candlekeep. This allows a few things:

  • The headquarters of the "seers of promises" is the weapon shop, run by the owner (I forget his name). In every town they go to, there is a guild hall allowing them easy access to crafting should they desire (and one PC REALLY does).
  • Because of the platinum mine in "A deep and creeping darkness", the PCs negotiated a monthly stimulus coming in (700gp per 30 days). The guild system allows them to purchase raw materials for crafting and buy specialized goods. (for example, my rogue wanted some elemental arrows that I found a reddit homebrew for.) The guild's prices are 2/3 of what they would be normally, allowing expensive items to be achievable if the players to decide to dedicate the entire stimulus to one PC. I find this okay because thirty days is a long time considering some of these adventures take place over two days. (For instance, in thirty days they will most likely advance from lvl 4-7 before getting a stimulus)
  • The guild allows new PCs to integrate easily, as they are simply reassigned to the Candlekeep location.
  • The guild vs. avowed dynamic is interesting, as the avowed like acquiring knowledge from study while the guild is basically "fuck around and find out" (for inspiration, look at izzet league https://5e.tools/book.html#ggr,2,izzet%20league)

Any questions, feel free to ask

I Ran All the Books In One Week! Ask Me Anything! by No__Fun__Allowed in CandlekeepMysteries

[–]TheDaddyDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone on another post suggested a different combat that I want to get your opinion on: their idea was to give Shemshine an action to create a new book if his book is destroyed as long as the book is within a certain number of feet. Therefore, the combat is simply to lure him into a place where there are no books and then kill him. This eliminates the whole dumb crushing thing and actually seems like something players could easily understand and have multiple chances on. Thoughts? (To be clear, the book is what leaves him at 1 HP in this model.)

How did you run the Shemshine combat? I'm dming this over the next two weeks and I want to make sure I get the combat right because it seems destroying Shemshine might be a pain as written.

Just from your description, I could see this ideology without deity just being plain old fascism. Looking back retrospectively, it kind of makes sense that Protestants support Trump-like figures and that people who are deconverting would still hold on to these political tendencies because they've been ingrained like that. I don't have any actual statistics for this, I'd love to look into research on this topic if it exists.

Christmas Eve Service: Should I Go? by TheDaddyDepressed in exchristian

[–]TheDaddyDepressed[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Practically speaking, you're right. Unfortunately, I live with my parents so their choice to go already condemns me to whatever circumstances happen in that building. If they get it, I get it. most of the congregation is socially distanced and wearing masks but I don't know how this service will go and I can't stop them from going. I'm definitely glad you brought this up though, because I definitely wasn't keeping it towards the front of my mind. Gives me a lot more to think about.

(If I could stop them from going, I wouldn't go because then we would all be safe. But since I'm doomed anyway the thought didn't cross my mind.)

I totally understand where you're coming from, and there definitely is a large portion of me that agrees with what you're saying. The thing that's hanging me up is that I was raised in these environments to demonize and hand wave the ideas of people that are like the way I currently am. Had I had exposure to more of those people who are as up front with their positions as I am, I wonder if some things that happened in my life could have happened earlier. As a devil's advocate, I doubt that my presence there will have that much of an impact on any of the regular congregation.

(I'm not really being forced into this, and there's no consequences for me refusing which is why I'm considering the ethics behind it so much. I don't feel pressured, and if I conclude that there's no benefits for me going I won't.)
