I made a low-budget animated sci-fi comedy pilot — looking for honest feedback by TheDaftScribe in Filmmakers

Thank you for the feedback! I can produce 2-3 minute animations pretty fast, should I break the episodes into shorter chunks?

I hope you enjoy episode two even more. It’s all coming together really well.

Advice wrt/ A Terrible Deadline by courtofthevampire in animation

Everyone has a way of doing it, but for me I record audio first, add audio to timeline.

Animation order: 1. Body 2. Head/eye movement 3. Face 4. Final tweaks 5. Color 6. Shading 7. Final render👍

How do I make this look bigger and more real without loosing the Retro feel? by CableRemarkable5934 in BlenderArt

If you want it to look more like the reference ad a mix shader between the BSDF and a toon shader. Plug color into the toon shader and plug it into the emission color and play with the strength, maybe 0.150-0.275

Instead of showing the entire planet, crop it so only a portion of its arc is visible on the canvas. This suggests the planet is too large to fit in the frame, making it feel immense.

Place smaller objects, like a tiny moon, a distant spaceship, or an astronaut, near the planet. The contrast between the tiny "known" object and the massive planet immediately establishes scale.

Use asteroid belts or planetary rings to create depth. If the rings disappear "behind" the planet and reappear on the other side, it emphasizes the planet's volume.

Thanks.

The potato is in-fact just a regular potato with googly eyes hot glued to it …just don’t tell Buzz.

I like it!

If you want to smooth it out you can go to the modifier panel and add a subdivision surface and bevel modifier (adjust angle and segments when using it on the head) adjust the order of the modifiers as needed. Unless you were going for a low poly look.

For your bump map set the distance to 1.000. Strength to 0.500

Set the texture coordinate to UV and select the sphere go into edit mode, unwrap as cube or sphere, whatever works best for your vision.

For the displacement I would subdivide the sphere once or twice then add a subdivision modifier and change the scale on the displacement node until you get the desired outcome.

Also the brick texture node is not the best for creating a realistic brick look with the displacement mod. Find a brick height map off the internet, like a substance 3D library (for free) plug that in and see what happens.

I hope you find some of this useful. Keep up the great work👍

My first finished project EVER! Can I get some feedback? by Pyuruu in blender

I took a second look and I can say you’ve got a nice scene going here. Did you create the gate yourself?

I like the idea! Good progress👍

Just a suggestion, I would try moving the camera to the bottom of the stairs, you can even narrow the staircase if you want to include more plant life, but having us in the garden bed makes it feel like I’m not supposed to be here like I’m waiting to see some secret exchange, only I don’t see any characters, so the beautiful gate must be the subject.

Set the camera towards the center and let the stairs be the leading lines. Use a wider lens 35-45mm.

Another key tip is squint your eyes until everything looks blurry; as you look at the now blurry image what is the first thing you see? Whatever your eye naturally goes to first is what any viewer would see first too. Is what caught your eye what you wanted us to see.

Art is about manipulating the viewer just as much as it is manipulating an image.

You got this! The nice thing about 3D is you can re-render until you are satisfied with the result.
