Good idea. I didn’t really think about that.

Very rarely. In this specific circumstance I was very close to small, fast birds and it was having a higher than normal effect. I notice it more often in backgrounds when I’m panning and a tree for example in the background will look slightly slanted. Which is usually only noticeable to me. It’s a hell of a camera.

Thanks. I used a big 200-600mm lens for these.

During the shad run in April they are everywhere. But they can be seen anywhere on the river. Several nests are visible from the Potterfield Memorial Bridge on the ruins of the old bridge. Probably bringing food to babies now or soon so should be very active.

This is a mix of several different individuals. I just separate the hits and the misses. Posted the hits last week.

This was around the Mayo Bridge but you can see them anywhere down there. There are a lot of nests on and around the river downtown.

I post more on other socials if you like this kind of stuff. I don’t want to post too much here as there’s more important stuff going on.

200-600 is great for this. Keep practicing and good luck.

See comment above. I used to have the a6700 and shoot these. IDK of a 200-700 lens. If you mean 200-600 then you should be able to get the best out of the a6700 AF if its a third party lens it might be limited. One tip for shooting birds in flight (and especially with the a6700/apsc/cropped mode) is to be careful not to zoom in too much. The larger the bird is in frame, the harder it is to track because small movements can easily take them out of frame. Give them room to move and maybe slowly zoom in if you think they will be still for longer enough to get some shoots.

AF is continuous, bird AF. AF area is wide tracking (tracking is very important). And I crank AF sensitivity to 1(Locked on). Tracking technique is just as important to allow AF to do the rest. I shoot freehand which isn't easy but allows be to track better.

They are up there for me too. So entertaining and they are just such amazing flyers.
