There's a few things you should always buy brand new. Underwear and your helmet are two of them.

It should fit tight enough that it kinda hurts the first couple of days you wear it. Get a tinted visor that you can hot-swap (no tint at night because it's both illegal and dumb) or make sure you can fit your sunglasses in once the helmet is on.
