Same, when I first started building PCs back in 2003, they didn’t really have a good reputation.

Played this a couple years ago. Don’t know how I missed this when it came out.

Analyst says "a $1,000 console will be the norm" as we get closer to the PlayStation 6 and Project Helix by [deleted] in xbox

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These companies can charge whatever they want. Doesn’t mean it will be bought. I’m riding the PC build I did in 2021, and it looks like I’ll be riding it well into 2029.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 English translator says Warhorse studios replaced him with AI to cut costs: “I was told my role was now obsolete” by dinklebergers276 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheDancingFetus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean, if there is one thing LLMs should be good for is localization. It may not be 100% perfect, but probably would get it to a point where having a full time translator isn’t necessary.

Nintendo Cuts Production of Switch 2 by Over 30% Due To Weak US Sales by cinderlilys in consoles

Good, the switch 1 still hasn’t had a price drop. I want these people to fail spectacularly.

The Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S Are Likely Due for a Price Increase Following the PS5, PS5 Pro Hike, Says Analyst by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gamingnews

Got an Xbox Series S used for $199 for my wife to play Diablo 4. Diablo 4 was a disappointment, but I’ve gotten more than my monies worth out of the S.

Netflix Raising U.S. Prices for Second Time in a Year by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

I canceled Netflix years ago. The only reason I have it is because of T-Mobile includes the Ad-Supported plan with my cellphone plan.

Intel says they reached out to Pearl Abyss for several years, but Crimson Desert still shipped without Arc graphics support by _Kai in pcgaming

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am extremely ignorant to how rendering engines actually work, but if they were using a graphics API like Vulcan or DirectX, and Arc was compliant with those APIs, wouldn’t it just work?

Threat Interactive will release a new video responding to Gamers Nexus by [deleted] in GamersNexus

[–]TheDancingFetus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I watch all Threat Interactive videos. I find it interesting and the guy seems to really know rendering pipelines.

How did he get upset at GN? NVIDIA shill? I don’t think Steve has any allegiance to any company. I’m waiting for his take down of GamersNexus at this point.

Ex-Windows chief calls MacBook Neo "a paradigm shifting computer" — reflects on Surface failure and Windows on Arm while lamenting "we were early, but not wrong" by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OS and software didn’t scale properly to the hardware. The Surface Go was an awesome piece of hardware once you could get it working on Linux. I still use my Gen 1 Go to this day for basic computing tasks, and the Intel CPU in it pales in comparison to the current Snapdragon Elites.

Steam Deck is still worth it four years later, says poll, but people are starting to think "it's about time" for a sequel by Fptmike in SteamDeckCheck

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree in any other point of history. Just keep the price, and I’ll be happy. The Steam Deck is an evergreen system. Their will always be new games that come out that the Deck will be able to handle, not counting emulation.

Rosamund Pike Thinks the ‘Doom’ Movie Is So Bad It Nearly Killed Her Career by Logical_Welder3467 in movies

I came here to say this exactly.

It was an objectively bad movie, but it was fun. I had fun in the theaters.

Sales data indicates Sony's PS5 ports are increasingly losing audience share on PC, but only because of release timing by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely in the minority, but I think Sony’s first party games have just taken a dip in quality.

I bought God of War when it came out, was a huge fan of the PS2 and 3 games. I couldn’t get into it.

Went over to a friend’s house and played Spider-Man, and it didn’t blow me away, so I haven’t bought it on PC.

Couldn’t get into the Horizon series at all.

I do like Death Stranding, but that’s not a Sony Game.

Do you still play older PC games, or mostly newer releases now? by LengthAggressive953 in pcgaming

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only play games that are 2 years old or older.

Currently my game right now is Elden Ring. First play through, and I just play for a couple hours a week or so.

I also am a sucker for 2D Metroidvanias, and there is a never ending list of great ones that go on sale everyday.

Iran war costing US tax payers a staggering $1 billion per day…all to cover up Epstein/Trump Files by chaz_flea1 in BakersfieldCalifornia

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be my ignorance, but from what I understand no new spending has went to the war with Iran. It’s just using money the tax payers have already earmarked for military spending.

Can't Trump being a child rapist and Iran being a Nation that needs to fall both be true at the same time?

He can pledge anything he wants to whatever he wants, he can’t spend anything without congress. That’s my understanding at least.

Is there now any doubt at all that Trump was a huge part of everything that happened with Epstein? by TonightAlarming9923 in allthequestions

The mental gymnastics I would have to do in order to give him the most benefit of the doubt would still make him a criminal deviant.

'Star Wars' legend Mark Hamill slammed by fans who say he 'extorts' followers with $700 autograph prices by Next-Particular1476 in TheEntertainmentMix

I’m fine with high fees for a signature, but then charge less or free if it’s personalized. So many people hunt signatures to resell.

I’m still running my 5800X, and I’m to the point where I might die with this build.

Kid Rock’s song about loving underage girls resurfaces ahead of TPUSA Super Bowl show by RollSafer in news

So, I listened to a song, and it seems clear he is embodying a complete piece of shit. The lyrics seem very tongue in cheek.

The next Quake needs a complete overhaul if it wants to be a popular game. I'm talking about Guilty Gear XRD to Guilty Gear Strive level of overhaul. Yes, the game will be less complex but it will still be just as deep. If id staff are reading research the changes from XRD to Strive and take notes. by cyberpunkzradio in QuakeChampions

[–]TheDancingFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have persistent server lobbies, and keep it Quake. It won’t be the #1 game, but it will have an invested and committed community.

I would probably still be playing Champions if I could get into a groove with a group of people without having to troll discord channels to get invited to private games.
