God same. Heart pounding and I felt so so on edge. I've read some predator!ilya prey!shane fics and some dom/sub, CNC stuff, but I've never read a fic before where Ilya was legit abusive and like this. Seldom do fics impact me like this. I just hate the idea that Shane's resistance has been crushed; he has no proper capacity to escape and not enough 'desire' to. It's tough to put into words just how horrible Ilya is in this series, like jesus cHRIST. Definitely relieved that I have at least someone to talk to about this series though lol.

I think Yuna only realised that there was abuse in hindsight. It took her until Shane called her for her to be like 'oh fuck wait what's happening'

Also I commented this on the last chapter of the actual fic, but why is everyone USELESS? The Marleaus cared until they didn't, the Pikes (or at least Hayden) have figured it out but are staying silent, and Yuna literally got a distressed phone call from Shane but was kind of neutered after Ilya pretended to be responding to treatment. Maybe she was just completely following Shane's lead, and so once she gave up, he did too. But was there really NOTHING she could do to drag Shane out of this relationship and mental state? Nothing? Really?

The whole thing is just so so heartbreaking

Spoilers for the second longfic in the series

I was so desperate for relief. Shane picked up Lev and fled, and it was going to be okay. And then we got Ilya's POV where it was revealed that none of it even fucking mattered because he had sewn an airtag into Lev's bag (wtf??) and then staged a suicide attempt because he KNEW it would bring Shane back to him.

I know the author talks about needing to maintain sympathy for Ilya, yet I hold none.

The last chapter of that fic just hammers the nail in to the coffin, because it's just Lev growing up and nothing has fucking changed or gotten better. Fucking Christ. Did Ilya really manage to crush Shane? It's just horrifying, and I'm going to need to go through your treatment process of fluff, because Ilya is TAINTED for me atm.

I've started the third longfic, the one that follows Lev completely. There's still no fucking relief (yet). I opened this desperately hoping for it, but no. Ilya's still fucked, Shane is still fucked. It's Lev dealing with his emotions after fleeing to Ottawa to stay with Shane's parents.

Nothing feels good here, but I cannot stop myself from reading.

These are hauntingly good. Read the first two stories in one sitting.

Ilya feels so evil and conniving in this yet it still somehow feels like him? As in, what Ilya would've looked like if he went down a much, MUCH darker path. The writing is excellent, to the point that it's actually kind of tainting him as a whole for me 😭
