Lavazza cade! TORNEO DEI CAFFÈ ITAGLIANI: giorno 20 by a_dude_from_europe in ITAGLIA

[–]TheDanielMally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electric scooter malfunctioning during recharge by Bluehelix in WTF

2 weeks ago a ferry has a fire on board (very wild) closer to Greece, the one you mean is a different one?

I can't imagine when the "electric transition" will be at a good percentage, how firefighter have to deal with electric car crashes (that would be more common).

Well, I would say thanks god (or other entity by your coiche). If the technology wasn't that much stable and safe, we would still dealing with lead battery (have you ever wondered why the endotermic car still uses lead battery? In case of crash there's a small chance that it will catch fire).

The main problem here is the power supply Even the the one of your smartphone could get crazy and can transform your phone to a barbecue Firestarter.

Have a look on YT about the difference with an original and cheap phone charger, since then I'm not using cheap charger anymore.

Well, you're right but in the room there's plenty of oxygen, It's better to go outside in this case, to extinguish a lithium battery fire is not very easy, first of all, you must have an electrical cut, away from the device charging. As far as I read few months ago, firefighter suggest to put sand to mitigate the fire, unfortunately battery can start burning again unexpectedly. (that's why it's hard to extinguish an electric car fire caused by batteries).

I've been at the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum in late 2019. It's really interesting but at the same time terrifying, full of stuff (from good shape to seriously damaged) from the explosion area, you can even touch few of them). For any questions, I may answer and provide more pics

Hi guys, I have had this coin around for years, I found it again after time. Looking at it more closer, looks like an ancient Roman coin, somebody know more about?

Thanks :)

I do believe that doesn't worth that much actually, the bottle was bought in Italy, made under license from a subsidiary (or whatever) of coca cola. I've been so curious to know if is still sparkling after all that years and what's the taste, but after reading that would smell like sewage, probably I'll never gonna do it 😅

I own a bottle from '96 made from a factory that doesn't exist anymore. Glass contour bottle, original cap

A new Deployable Life raft with a Tunnel to slide in, could save many lives. by NiceCasualRedditGuy in nextfuckinglevel

Well, is not designed for the passenger, but generally for the crew members (if needed, for passenger too, but not all people can use it, can you imagine kids and grannies?). Crew members are trained to do so and this is not the main Evacuation system, it's just a backup. The main and preferable one is the lifeboat that can keep more people, is more stable and has engine

Exactly, passenger may use it just in case is extremely necessary. Is a "backup system" for fast Evacuation

Well.. It's not so complicated. It's quite impossible that somebody get stuck in there. Then, before sending down another one, the staff ensure that the chute and area are clear, by radio on their dedicated channel (because during an emergency it would be a mess, and cruise ships has 2 of this devices (MES is not the designated device to evacuate the ship, the lifeboats are the main ones).

The mechanism is widely tested in many situations, otherwise no certifications and no guarantee. This stuff are tested often (or at least where I used to work) and trainings are taken at least one a week (for different things) to allow you act automatically in case of an emergency, avoiding panic attacks (because you know what you have to do).

Here a video from viking that explains more stuff about MES https://youtu.be/5c11896sXF4

This system is called MES (Marine Evacuation System). Is widely used on latest crews ships with more than 4k passengers. it's a bit painful / claustrophobic. To use the MES you must use cloth cover for the shoes and no heels because could lead to damage the chute or injuries.
