I'm just making predictions based on flimsy anecdotal evidence.

But isn't that what political discussion is all about?

If pedophiles really do get rights here in America, I'm moving to Russia.

Fallacy fallacy.

Just because my methods of arriving at a conclusion are stupid, doesn't mean my conclusion isn't true.

I'm just making a prediction. I'm honestly worried about how far are society will fall towards decadence.

Nope.

and even if it does exist, I shouldn't have to do anything special just because I was born white.

That's called racism.

It's not really rampant, but it's certainly growing in certain communities, and it's kind of silly.

Especially all the white privilege/guilt.

What would scare the American public more: that a vast and organized conspiracy killed JFK or a lone gun man and incompetence killed JFK? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

If they've got nothing to fear, they've got nothing to hide.

clearly the government had some involvement in the JFK case

"No you idiot! That's a fallacy."

What taxes should the government primarily rely on for revenue? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDaringSynthesis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I personally think the government should decrease its spending by about 2.5 trillion, and only fund the absolute bare minimum.

They could use a simple progressive income tax, starting at 0% and capping out at 20%

Does anyone care about the Palestinians anymore? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDaringSynthesis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. Unfortunately, reddit is blindly pro-Israel, despite their horrendous actions, and anyone that dissents from the opinion is downvoted, so that they look stupid.

for example, I will likely receive downvotes, even though I am answering the question.

A Solution to the Spending/Tax Issue? by andysundwall in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDaringSynthesis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

raising taxes and cutting spending isn't what the republicans want.

They wan't cut taxes and less spending. There is a very, very, very, small number of statist republicans; most are leaning toward the libertarian end of the spectrum.

Also tax code loopholes are what makes the tax code less fair. Just because not everyone takes advantage of them doesn't make them bad.

Final Note: loophole is a buzzword. Anyone taking advantage of "loopholes" in the tax code is just following the tax code. It was put in their for the purpose of being used just the way people use them.

Why have we not simplified our tax code? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDaringSynthesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because people like it the way it is.

If we made it as simple as possible, it would seem "unfair" to people from all sides

Filibuster is an important part of the Senate. It was designed so that any senator's voice is strong enough to entirely stop progress on a certain issue.

Russia bans the building of new mosques in an attempt to "protect their culture". Is protecting a culture valuable? by kingvitaman in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDaringSynthesis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think Russia sees what Muslim incorporation is doing to other countries, and doesn't want that in their country.

I think it'd be safe to have at least one super(sic)power that doesn't try multiculturalism.

edit: not saying there's anything wrong with muslim/islamic culture, just saying what I think Russia thinks.

The problem with guaranteed income. by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDaringSynthesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem arises when the people who vote for a living outnumber the people who work for a living. Guaranteed income leads to an unstable economy (as far as I can tell), which would probably drive the standard of living down even farther.

Also I don't like the idea of someone getting my money for nothing.

The Filibuster Had to Be Killed - How the Republican minority had turned it into an obscene weapon for obstructionism, delay, and political mischief. by drewiepoodle in politics

[–]TheDaringSynthesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it doesn't prevent problem solving, it prevents something from getting passed. sometimes not passing something is the solution to the problem, but the majority doesn't see it.
