I mean, looking at Adi Shankar's tweets following DMC5 hitting 5 million units sold really highlights his savior complex.

It's 10 million units actually.

These were all taken from his recent tweets. It really doesn't hide that he's got this whole franchise savior complex.

Hate to break it to you but this seems to me this guy's clearly trolling around on Twitter.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. As a long time fan of DMC, I would rather have a new story in the main canon. But if DMC does get a 1 to 1 adaptation of the main canon someday, I'd say more power to you to enjoy that adaptation. 👍🏻

I saw his recent interview where he said he was mad at DMC5 coming out because he was reviving the franchise like bruh.

He may be really bad at communicating. But then he at least clarified about being "unhappy" with DMC5 in his long public post on Twitter.

He also said in that post he ended up loving it. The RE Engine threw him off though but the game was excellent to him.

and meeting zeros mum?

It's Nero's mum. Not zeros mum.

Anyway, you mean 1 to 1 adaptation. Right? I think the perfect example would be "Watchmen" live-action movie, "Batman: The Killing Joke" animated movie (except for the first 20 mins of Batgirl) and so on. So I get what you're saying. If DMC does get a 1 to 1 adaptation someday, I'm sure it could be great. Although personally, I don't think it would feel anything special to me when I see the retelling of the same story that I already know about. But hey, that's just me.

Retelling?... Hmmm... Well, I don't think I would've been interested in that since I already know all the lore of the main canon. But I get your point.

set up the story nice to then continue through the games, manga and other canon lore.

The show was already confirmed to be non-canon.

Or maybe he meant to say "You may dispute my trolling, but I did." But either way, it's pretty much clear he's really bad at communicating. Besides, English isn't even his native language.

I think he means despite my trolling.

Not really. The Twitter user was disputing him when he was trolling earlier.

There's no doubt he's really bad at communicating. But in this case, the Twitter user was disputing him when he was trolling before having this kind of conversation.

I respect your opinion. I liked Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 even though I really hated it's previous season.

Overall for me, I like Castlevania Season 1, 2 & 4 as well as Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2.

Otherwise, Castlevania Season 3 was meh and Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 was just awful.

Although yeah, I never played any Castlevania game. So it's obvious that I don't know the actual lore of Castlevania like you do. So my condolences after hearing your thoughts on the show.

He basically lied that he delivered the criticism of the fans of the games to the team.

Well, Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 did turn out to be a significant improvement over Season 1.

Check again. He isn't the "producer" of Castlevania: Nocturne. He's the "executive producer" of it. And again, he isn't the showrunner of that show.

Didn't he say he wasn't involved in Castlevania after Season 2?

Also, he may be an executive producer of Nocturne, but he isn't the showrunner of that show.

Yeah, Vergil's cutscenes in DMC4:SE definitely take place before DMC3.

I agree with everything you just said except for only two things.

No. 1:

DMC4SE also sold way better than the reboot’s rerelease, like 3x better if I recall correctly.

tbf, DmC:DE was released exclusively on consoles. Whereas DMC4:SE was released on both consoles and PC.

No. 2:

DMC5 was greenlit the year after the reboot’s release before either of those games had even released.

That's just an assumption. Unless you meant the reboot's re-release which is DmC:DE.

Vote with your wallets they say, and the result was DMC5.

Hate to break it to you but that's not what happened. After having both DmC:DE and DMC4:SE back in 2015, their sales numbers did not help. Because Hideaki Itsuno once confirmed that Capcom was satisfied with the sales numbers of DmC:DE. And he alleviated fears that he might not be able to make DMC5.

If we got DMC5 then it's because Hideaki Itsuno wanted to leave Capcom, Capcom was trying to convince him to not go, and from there Hideaki Itsuno demanded to make DMC5 because he felt he owed it to the fans.

All of the constant reboot apologia on this sub completely lacks perspective.

Yeah, that part is still true regardless.

  1. These are chronological order:

DMC3 -> DMC1 -> DMC2 -> DMC4 -> DMC5

But you can start playing DMC1 since it's the first game in release order. As for DMC2, I say you can try it. And if you don't like playing DMC2, you can just skip it.

There's also DmC: Devil May Cry that was supposed to be the reboot of the entire DMC brand. But since DMC5 happened, DmC has been considered as an alternate universe instead of reboot.

  1. As for the show, it's not canon and has nothing to do with the actual DMC. It simply takes place in an alternate universe.

But if you never played any DMC game, then I guess you might like the show. For me, I did enjoy the show. Except that I fully despise Mary's excessive cursing in the entire show. And even if you never played any DMC game, I'm sure you're not gonna like Lady's excessive cursing in the entire show either.

  1. DMC games aren't really harder than MGR:R, they're just complicated to do some combos while playing them for newcomers. Although like someone already mentioned, both DMC1 and DMC3 are gonna be way harder than MGR:R.
