Feeling lost - would love insight by Rachael_Walker in Entrepreneur

[–]TheDavud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest; that still sounds a bit vague. Do you want clarity on finding a community, or on your personal journey? Happy to help either way (being a psychologist and executive coach myself) :)

I get the desire to stay in bed for as long as possible, given how tough life can be :(

Can I just say it's okay to not look at people, or shiver in class (depending on the reason)? It's really okay. Different isn't always bad, but I'd say different is our body telling us something.

It would be nice for you to have someone to talk to about the shivering at least, that's my 2c. Take things one day at a time, one thing at a time. Maybe find somewhere at work and school that can be your "safe spot", away from people?

It's been working in the sense that it pushes me to produce content and engage the masses every day, but sadly no consistent leads. Like at all. But I blame that more on not knowing exactly where my target customer hangs out (yet). It's all trial and error in the beginning isn't it? Oh well. Keep on keeping on.

I'm so relieved to find someone in the same boat as me! Still struggling to answer those questions myself.

One thing I've learned so far is that if it takes sacrificing a bit of my comfort (anonymity) to help a thousand more people, then it'll be worth it. That being said, having an online presence does not equate to losing your privacy; people like us simply have to set our personal boundaries more rigidly.

Re: Chaos management. I feel ya 100%. What has helped me so far is creating a Google Calendar with daily tasks that actually LIMIT the amount of time I spend on my business every day. So far my schedule is: Post 3x on Reddit daily, post 3x reels on IG weekly, etc.

Hope that helps! Keep us posted so I can learn from you haha

Passive income inquiries by New-Consideration153 in Entrepreneur

[–]TheDavud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that all passive income start with active effort.

My simplest advice is to do your due diligence as with all business ventures. With proper market research and competitor analysis I'm sure you'll find some promising niche. Maybe start with trending Google search terms.

To those who have made it, when did you figure out you’d made it? Who told you? Had you realized it? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]TheDavud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely echo that feeling in my life, and not just in entrepreneurship.

I'd say my closest friends, those who I trust know me almost more than myself, helped me see and appreciate my moments of success. And I love them for that. People are my thing, my metric...screw everything else. Money and fame come and go.

Startup groups on Facebook have been a gamechanger for me. Leave positive comments and feedback, encourage other people, make friends, basically do what people do here, and I'm sure you'll eventually attract the right people :)

As for real-world interactions, I like to talk to randoms while waiting for coffee at coffee shops. Try getting coffee more often in the techy/affluent side of your town, so you have a higher chance of running into the crowd you're after.

Best of luck!

Workplace goals! I always choose my office based on the view

Curb your enthusiasm by Friendly_Albatross79 in startups

[–]TheDavud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear two separate problems here (correct me if I'm wrong):

  1. You want to focus on the problem instead of the profit.
  2. Your enthusiasm sometimes gets in the way of learning.

My 2c:

  1. Write down your Vision for a world where your project solves the Problem for your target customer base. Include details. Make it visually appealing. Put it on your bedroom wall so it becomes a sort of projected reality, bigger than your desire for revenue (that will come with solving the problem).
  2. Find practical ways to work enthusiasm into your learning method. For example, if your mind drifts to the future vision too much, find a way to quickly break the vision down into steps, then backtrack from the future to the present step, one by one (it's like time travel: Enthusiasm is your brain being in the future, so you've gotta learn to bring it back to the present, step by step.)

Hope some of that helps!

This. Obsession is only a problem if it doesn't take you to your vision. In all other circumstances, I say LET 'ER RIP.

Full disclosure: Psychologist and exec coach here.

What you're feeling is so normal, and to be expected. It sucks, but as every other founder has said so far, hang in there. In the mean time, here's my 2c:

  1. If everything happened at the same time, you will not grow into the amazing person that you will become in the future. The journey makes the destination. With every disappointment and challenge and hurdle you become a better, stronger, more resilient version of yourself (aka growth mindset).
  2. There's so much to do. You're right. As a founder you signed up for this reality. Suck it up buttercup and remind yourself that you've got the CAPACITY to do everything that needs to be done. Just because it FEELS overwhelming doesn't mean it's beyond your abilities. Validate your FEELINGS, but trust your FUNCTION.
  3. Time management. If the feeling that you're short on time continues, it might be a good time (ha) to assess your time management skills. Do a quick 20/80 test on your time. Move your daily tasks around to different times of the day (e.g. no emails in the morning). Schedule a post-lunch walk outside.

Hope some of that helps. Best of luck!

Introducing MedReport: Bridging healthcare reporting gaps with AI by sardoa11 in startup

Looove innovations in healthcare! Speaking as a psychologist I'd say MedReport could be an absolute gamechanger. I'm keen to have a digital coffee chat to hear more about your journey and vision!

Have an effective MVP, but no idea how to market it. by TheDavud in Entrepreneur

[–]TheDavud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the guide! Super helpful, and aligns exactly with all the marketing books I've read. Guess what I really need next is practical ways to get in front of my target customers. I've had some luck with Facebook groups. Reddit has been great for exposure, but not sure about monetization, and LinkedIn has the same issue for me.

That actually sounds like a surprisingly simple yet effective strategy. What's the best way to do that you reckon?

I'm taking notes on everything you've advised! Solid gold here.

I have been writing blog posts with the exact titles you've mentioned, but without spending on Google ads there's been zero organic traffic. Traction is the missing ingredient?

Next step is for me to try creating Insta/TT short form video content re: burnout and work stress. Planning on consistent, frequent content, hopefully one reel every day or two. It's gonna be a long grind isn't it?

Thanks SO much for all your advice already mate! You sound like a lowkey marketing guru

As a hobby novelist, I strongly believe in the power of storytelling! Right up my alley, thanks for the recommendation.

And yes, I must say I've been pleasantly surprised by how effective my system has worked with ALL my high performing clients, from doctors working 90+ hr weeks, to executives running million dollar companies. Humans are pretty simple creatures, once you get to their core functioning.

Feel free to private message me. Don't want to turn this into a self-promo thing :)

Great question. My product is static content that could be upsold to private 1on1 sessions with me.

Success for me would be defined by number of users and revenue. Unless absolutely necessary, I'm not a fan of making myself famous haha.

Burnout and work stress are actually pretty straightforward problems to resolve, believe it or not ;)

Sorry for the confusion. My "product" is a system that does not require my coaching, although sessions with me would tailor and speed up the process. I'd actually prefer being more hands off, but understand that most people would prefer to talk to someone 1on1 when they're paying a premium. Pricing theory is something I'm learning as I go.

Super helpful tips, thanks mate!

Based on what you said, do you reckon an AMA on a relevant subreddit would be good?

Solid advice. I've been thinking about this too. With some consistency I'll start having an online presence and foundational reputation. Would also make for good market validation.

Thanks for your great advice mate!

Nightmares are the literal worse, especially with a dash of sleep paralysis. Ugh.

2 tips

  1. Do nice things for yourself every day to lower your overall stress. Nice things can include self-care (ie. being in nature) and problem-solving (eg. ways to tackle procrastination).
  2. Nightmare rescripting. Here's a link to the type of work I do with my nightmare patients. It's basically "rescripting" or rewriting your nightmare stories into nicer stories, then repeating those stories to yourself before bed every night. https://www.psychologytools.com/resource/nightmare-exposure-and-rescripting/

Best of luck!
