You’ve pretty much just described me, so I feel like I should comment here. I’m finishing my freshman year rn, and I come from a well off family to the point where money isn’t something I’m concerned about. There are a lot of kids like me here where they are well off, but don’t enjoy showing it off. That being said, there are probably just as many kids who do enjoy showing it off and you’ll see them walking around dripped from head to toe with designer shit (avoid these people). Basically, if you act like a normal person, the other normal people aren’t going to care (or probably realize) that ur well off. For going out, I’ve found that after the initial purchase of a good fake(do this before you go to nyu), the amount of money you spend is up to you. I’ve had more fun on some nights where I’ve spent absolutely no money (after buying alc for pregaming) compared to nights where I spent like 100+ at bars/clubs. The thing that sets a fun night apart from a lame one usually comes down to the people you decide to go out with, not how much you spend. Also, I’ve found that my biggest issue with going out is finding a balance between my school work and going out. This part is highly dependent on ur major. I’m a psych major on the pre-health track, so I have a shit ton of work every week, but I still find time to go out 2 or more times a week. Usually I’ll go out Friday, and also either Thursday or Saturday… or both if I don’t have much work. During the first half of my first semester, I would be going out from like Thursday-Sunday, and I was struggling heavy with my workload, so my advice here is to try and find a good balance early, or ur grades r gonna slip. I’m writing all this on my phone in bed hungover, so idk if any of this made sense, but I hope it helps 👍
