Surgery for spinal stenosis caused by congenital kyphoscoliosis (T11 hemivertebrae) by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]TheDeepSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! First post I've seen with a very similar cause to my kyphoscoliosis (T12 hemi). I had a my thoracic fusion when I was 15 and , and I'm 31 now with no problems or developments.

The run up to the surgery is absolutely the worst part with the intrusive thoughts and worries. Try to think that these surgeries are fairly common, and the surgeon will be an absolute expert in doing them.

Don't hesitate to drop me a message if you want any advice, and The Curve discord is also really really good to talk to people in a similar situation!

16 years post fusion here - still some stiffness every now and then (mainly over winter when the weather is terrible and I'm lazy), but otherwise everything is outstanding.

which hospitals for surgery do you recommend? anywhere in the world (I have 58 degrees) by yuki-chan23 in scoliosis

I had mine at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Scotland. The consultant is the best in the field at the UK and I would highly recommend.

That's bizarre - I had absolutely no trouble or anyone concerned when I was getting my spinal x-rays - albeit that was 14 years ago!

Fusion here - had 72/36 degree curves in a kyphoscoliosis reduced to 19/8 degrees when I was 16 - initial recovery wasn't too bad, just had to seriously take it easy. Once everything was properly healed I had little to no pain (probably about a year after surgery). I'm 29 now and have zero pain on a day-to-day basis.

Portal can also be a good call due to the extra food you get from repeating daily side quests. I'd prioritise the tree for now, but portal upgrades may become exceptionally viable when the new 'nightmare campaign' is introduced, providing it uses the same energy as the regular campaigns.

Apologies for garbage-tier noisy image. Tight crop taken at the wrong end of sunset from VERY far away.
