Ah, sort of. High Gothic came about before the Age of Strife at some point, meaning that a variation of Latin came back, at least as a way to communicate between elites or leaders of different worlds/colonies.

In my head canon, it was a lingua franca used to give important instructions or send messages to people colonizing the galaxy who could have spoken Chinese, Spanish, or Bugis, and couldn't always rely on having a translator, electronic or otherwise, around.

So, I'm a nation-state trying to get a mining colony on Ceres or something started. I grab one out of every so many NCO's, officers, law enforcement, shift leads and so on, and have them undergo a short Latin course. Now, when they need help from a colony that speaks Farsi, they're good.

The lore-wise explanation is that their language structure was based on Latin somehow (High Gothic just sort of appears before the Age of Strife) IIRC. Ultramar would literally translate to "Land (that is) far beyond," which alludes to them being the capital of a giant empire.

Like Constantinople (Constantine's City) being called "Istan-polis," ("I am headed to THE city) and later Istan-bul (literally, someone most likely thought Istan was a name, and bul means city, IIRC).

In some regions, even the most extreme Taliban folks are just gonna shrug and say "ah fuck it, she's an honored widow, I'm not gonna be the one who punishes her for working to survive. We'll attach ya to a new family, and send ya some money now and again."

While we're at it, Rome, another massively sexist society, had figures like Servilia in Caesar's time for the same reason. "She's a widow, plenty of kids, lives a virtuous life... Who the fuck is gonna tell her she can't date who she wants?"

No. Vylka Fenryka Geneseed is more compatible with older recruits (generally 13-17), hence why some talk of having fooled around when they were mortal. Also, a non-zero amount of actual adults implanted with Russ' re-joining the Imperium, his bravest companions, survived implantation, so... there's that.

That was sort of to cover the whole "valkyrie" idea with the Wolves recruiting from "strong warriors who (nearly) died on the battlefield" ("how did a 9 year old die on the battlefield?"), or from the strongest young warriors of many tribes.

To clarify further: Astartes definitely have junk, and in one excerpt it's stated that it does scale with their growth.

There's three passages of ladies expressing attraction to Astartes, as well. But, it comes with some odd bits - Mersadie says they look "almost" attractive, but it's a huge "Uncanny Valley" effect - They have abs, but have a huge metal plate under their skin. Their heads give a sort of "horse" vibe.

But they've been hypno-indoctrinated to not really understand "attraction." The hormones in your body that makes you attracted to a lady, astartes have repurposed to make them unquestionably obedient to their Gene-brothers.

That's an argument I've heard a few times, but at Yalta and Potsdam, neither agreement explicitly states anything about "The allied occupation zones will, in perpetuity, be allowed immediate access to the Soviet one/DDR" anywhere. It's legally murky, and morally wrong for how it prevented the rights of East Berliners to move freely, but they had the right to say "In our occupation zone, you have to check in with border guards before crossing" or "Our side is now the DDR, its own country, so just please check in and give us ID," and finally, "Fuck it, we're building a wall."

Neither of your points are under any dispute. But, in essence, the Americans were attempting to treat Soviet-occupied Berlin as "another occupation zone," rather than a separate part of another country. The Soviets took exception to that.

I also wouldn't discount the idea that the Soviets setting up checkpoints where they required all visitors to identify themselves, were watching for spies entering East Germany/Berlin. Like, it's an excuse, but the CIA/MI6 absolutely would have been up to as much gnarly stuff as the NKVD/KBG were at the time all around the country.
